About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Conquer the world and become a benevolent dictator.

ABOUT ME

I'm an adventurous, smart guy who is a true believer that you should always do whatever will make the best story later on. I sometimes do some quirky little things that confuse people, but then I explain them, and people usually say "whoa, I never thought of that. That makes perfect sense!" An example is always asking the waiter what his or her favorite item is on the menu. If they point out the most expensive item, they're probably looking for a good tip, but if they don't pick the priciest meal, then their choice is most likely delicious. My friends make fun of me for this. When I am visiting friends I usually just sit back and let them, the experts of the area, take the reins and show me around. When my friends come to visit me, I drop everything to make sure they have a great time. Being a good host is one of the greatest joys I have in life. I love traveling and seeing the world; I don't understand how people can be content without ever having left their hometown.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is that if you were to talk with anyone who you have a conflict with, eventually, if you could get rid of the language barrier, you would realize that there was just a misunderstanding. And if we could all sit back, be open-minded, and get to that point, we'd all then take a step back and say "oh, well okay then. We misunderstood each other, now let's be friends and hang out" or something like that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met couch surfers at hostels, but have not yet been on a couch, not hosted. But I plan to when I get the opportunity!

Interests

I love good food, music festivals, hi-fi audio, talking about the uniqueness of any particular culture or city. I like talking about the "whys" and "hows" of things. I tend to talk in abstract concepts sometimes. I love sarcasm, and hope that you do too. I love most types of music, as long as I agree with the message. I like fancy things, but also enjoy roughing it through the woods. There's more, but you'll have to chat with me to find out.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a service trip to the Dominican Republic. I dug meter-deep trenches for the installation of fresh running water to a tiny village for the first time. These people had to hike 2 hours to get water from a stream multiple times a day. I was there when they turned on the tap for the first time. They had the most incredible smiles on their faces as they turned on the tap, to see the water gushing out. They danced in the streets. I felt so happy for them, and now whenever I turn on a tap, I remember that moment.

I was in Jerusalem during the largest gathering of Orthodox Jews in history. Roughly 800,000 men and women gathered there (in separate areas, of course) to protest the government bill to draft their children into the military. A sea of men with black hats literally as far as I could see stood, praying their hearts out to god. They were all in unison, reciting the same prayers they had been saying for millennia. The most incredible moment was when they began a silent prayer. With 800,000 people surrounding me, all of them passionate and emotionally charged, I could have heard a pin drop. I still get chills when I think about those few moments of silence in a million-man crowd.
