Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Exploring, learning, stopping to smell the roses, and saving a few trees.
ABOUT ME
After finishing my first leg of University, I headed to Europe with my best-friend, backpacking and WWOOFing, mostly in Italy and France for half a year. The experience of working on organic farms galvanized my passion for food in all its facets: cooking, growing, and understanding where it comes from and how it impacts our communities. I'm also a deep admirer of all forests and for this reason I will find myself back in school this fall enrolled at the University of Toronto in the Master of Forest Conservation program.
I can't get enough of traveling in any form, and meeting new people from a neighbouring town or half-way around the world is the great reward of exploring.
PHILOSOPHY
I can only go disconnected from the land for short periods without losing my super powers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been sleeping on couches, futons, roommates beds etc. since I joined in 2008. These countries include Italy, France, Germany, England, Belgium. I'll finally be getting a place of my own in the fall in Toronto with a fellow couchsurfer where we will host as often as our busy schedules allow.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Every experience has been amazing so it's hard to play favourites. Just being welcomed into a stranger's home and instantly forgetting that they are a stranger is an incredible feeling.
Interests
I love to play hackey sack when just hanging out. I also play hockey, snowboard, guitar and drums and so I am always looking for others to jam with along the way.
Just being outdoors is good enough for me, any type of weather. I'm a camping enthusiast, my home turf being the backcountry woods and lakes of Northern Ontario, Canada. I am also interested in permaculture and sustainable organic farming. With this also comes my passion for ecology and history and how cultures use and manipulate their landscapes (and forests).

Music, Movies, and Books
I read mostly non-fiction, generally historical and ecological topics, but I love a good Richler or Mowat. Everyone should read Michael Pollan's "Omnivore's Dilemma" and "In Defense of Food".
I like a good film, so Hollywood has its work cut out for it.
As for music, give me some good ol'fashioned guitar, maybe a banjo, you can never go wrong with the fiddle, and slap together some rhythm, and we're grooving.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Riding fresh powder in the high Andes backcountry of Chile.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to learn about cooking, especially when in foreign countries. For others, I can be informative on Canadian history, if of course there's anyone who actually wants to learn such an obscure history. There is also a lot of great Canadian music that I can introduce to those interested.
