About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"A man's work is nothing but this slow trek to rediscover, through the detours of art, those two or three great and simple images in whose presence his heart first opened."

"What a piece of work is a man! How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty! In form and moving how express and admirable! In action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a God!"

ABOUT ME

Soft heart, sharp mind, sometimes a sharp tongue. (I end up biting it from time to time.) Shrewd but not cynical, emotional but not hysterical, sensitive but not a drip. Adventurous but not a lunatic.

PHILOSOPHY

€Ž'Be Content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you'.
Lao Tzu

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have now had quite a few visitors, and must say that I have really enjoyed the experience. It's been educational and humbling, and I have loved hearing from such a diverse group of people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Done so on a few occasions. It has always been an eye-opener, allowing me to encounter a person and a place in way far more intimate than simply being a tourist. Not just being a passerby, but discovering a place together with a new friend, one with the familiarity of a local.

Interests

Good food, good wine, good company.

Music, Movies, and Books

Umberto Eco, "The Name of the Rose"

I've always loved Czeslaw Milosz. At once so familar, the way he expresses luminescence and exile. Just discovering Arvo Part. Rediscovering Phillip Glass. Recently attended Satyagraha, live transmission from the Met. (Don't be fooled, I also go for cheesy and lowbrow pop when the mood is right.)
