I grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin. I worked as the Manager of the men and women's swim and dive teams while attending school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I majored in Political Science, Chinese, and Spanish. I worked for the Senate in Washington D.C. for two years before joining the Peace Corps. I currently serve as a Secondary Education Volunteer in rural East Java, Indonesia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to experience the daily routines of people where I visit. I hope hosts can show me their favorite bars, restaurants, and pastimes. I would rather learn about a place and its culture from actual people, as opposed to Lonely Planet and TripAdvisor.

Favorite Books--Lawrence in Arabia, The Devil in the White City, To Kill a Mockingbird, any Ernest Hemingway novel

I lived in Indonesia for over two years without receiving a salary.

My favorite drink is an Old Fashioned. While most people mix the drink with whiskey, the people in my state prepare the drink with brandy.
