About Me

Hey! I am Xiaowen Tang(Adela) from Shanghai, China. Currently I am doing a postgraduate study in Hong Kong . Last year I went to Madrid for an exchange study. I am an easy-going and open-minded person, thus traveling while learning is what I adore. Here goes my motto: Carpe diem. :)

Hola.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

You will never know, if you don't live it. This is a motto used by AIESEC(an international non-governmental not-for-profit organization ). Before my exchange study in Spain, I was a member of this organization, which provided me with courage and passion to get closer to the world surround us. Although I haven't had a couchsurfing experience, I have such confidence that Couchsurfing is more than sharing a couch with people or travelling like a mere tourist, thus the value lies in the course of exchange of language, experience, trust, affection and more. Basically, that´s why I am here!

Interests

Making friends with people from distinct backgrounds, hiking in Nature, jogging, cooking( I wanna learn more about Western cooking and dishes), traveling, music, salsa(actually I am a new beginner :P), reading( I am fascinated by those books related to European history, especially Spanish history), watching tennis (here comes a superfan of Roger Federer. One of my dreams is to watch the four Grand Slam tournaments on the scene!!! And I have learned a little how to play tennis in the last 3 years)

Music, Movies, and Books

There is truly a pile of them I like! And I am always willing to embrace a new one.

My last couchsurfing host Antonio gave me a list of songs that motivated to explore the other parts of the world we live in! They are truly adorable :)
eg. M Clan – Sin equipaje, Steppenwolf – Born To Be Wild, One Republic – I Lived,
Eddie Vedder – Hard Sun

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent two months in Cambodia for an voluntary project in Phnom Penh together with other 11 volunteers from Indonesia, Philippines, Turkey and other parts of China. We worked in a local university there to give culture-related lessons to the local students there. During the two months , with all our efforts, we saw the progress made by those simple, lovely and friendly Cambodian students in all the courses, that is to say , they became more active in class participation and developed a more international insights into different issues that we talked in class. Frankly speaking, that was my very first experience of teaching, from which I was aware of contributing more to teaching in future.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I guess what I have most confidence is the Chinese language. :) Meanwhile, I would like to teach you the Chinese cooking skills

Learn:
I am curious about ... everything :)))) Since I am doing an exchange study in Spain, I would like to learn the language, the salsa dance, the cooking skills.... quite a lot!

Share:
Go hiking in the mountain or in the peaceful and amazing Nature.
Laughter, chat and being good listener
Sometimes, silence. (yeah, definitely, sometimes it occurs to me and to everyone)
