About Me
CURRENT MISSION
1,000 kilometers by bike through Eatern Europe
ABOUT ME
I'm a typical world traveler and adventurer, I guess. I study at the American University in Cairo, where I have lived for 18 months now. I love the outdoors (which makes Egypt a tough place sometimes). Biking, climbing, hiking, camping... you name it. I juggle, doing shows or busking here and there. I can be pretty quiet, but I really love a good discussion or debate. I'm not that much of a night life person - don't drink or smoke. But I'm cool with people who do.
PHILOSOPHY
Personal philosophies that I stole:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
- Mark Twain
A man is not old until regrets start taking place of dreams.
- Anonymous
Personal philosophies that I actually came up with myself:
Planned Spontaneity - Though the basic parameters and objectives of each phase of my life are pre-determined, what happens in the course of achieving such is largely a product of my innovations and a twist a fate.
"You Gotta Do It For The Camera!" - Once the camera is rolling, i.e. once committed, there is no going back.
The Regret Factor - "If I jump from this bridge, I may end up in the ICU; If I don't, I will spend the rest of my life wishing I had..." Whenever confronted with a choice, deliberate well the outcome - will one choice lead to greater rue than another? And always avoid that most regrettable trait - the indecisiveness that precludes either outcome entire.

Music, Movies, and Books
Social commentary novels (Hard Times, The Jungle, Things Fall Apart) and social commentary comic strips (Calvin and Hobbes, Toothpaste for Diner), grammar guides and outdoor guides. Social theory and good ethnographies too - but I'm a little burned out on those right now...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
At the Egyptian camel market - hitched a ride back to Cairo in the bed of a pickup truck that was filled with camels.
Teach, Learn, Share
Want to learn to juggle? Or tie an alpine butterfly? Or hear what I think about iPods?
I'm always looking to improve my climb/hike/klettersteig skills or work on a foreign language. I'd like to learn some acrobalance too.
