About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I dream of backpacking the world. NEXT STOP: COLOMBIA

ABOUT ME

Been an EVS volunteer in Romania in 2012 changed my life, my thinking and the way I interact with other people. Even though I have been always a travel lover, that was the point when I rejected been a tourist and become a traveller, making of my trips a way of experience real life. I haven't stop since then, always in the move and looking for new experiences, new countries to discover and new people to get amazed by.

No more 'Things to do' lists, no touristic routes, no need of visiting all major sites. I would gladly spend my time sharing a meal with a local and discovering narrow streets in far neighbourhoods than waiting two hours long queue to visit the Eiffel tower.

I have been a student in Italy, a volunteer in Romania, a workawayer in North England and intern in South England. I have also lived in three different cities in Spain while studying or working. My body always asks me to move and I don't know if I will ever be able to settle down and embrace the stillness.
I don't even know if I want that to happen.

PHILOSOPHY

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I joined CS when I was a EVS volunteer in Romania during four months and CS gave me the opportunity to visit more of the country and meet really nice local people in a very easy and affodable way.
I have met wonderful people that have become really good friends after and experience things I woudn't be able to otherwise: having breakfast prepared by an old lady and trying to understand each other in Romania, watching russian films in unexpecting movienights in England or attending a family birthday party in Portugal.

Interests

Art, movies, film photography, volunteering, sightseeing, learning how to say 'cheers' on the mother tongue of people I meet (until now I can say it in german, danish, lithuanian, latvian, estonian, bulgarian, macedonian, italian, hungarian, polish, chinese and romanian!)

I like taking pictures and sharing them on Flickr. You can take a look if you want: http://www.flickr.com/photos/aranmanoth_87/

But also Instagram: https://instagram.com/ad_garmo/

HITCHHIKING! I've discovered it in Romania and it is my new passion!

Music, Movies, and Books

Wong Kar-Wai movies, Woody Allen, Bergman, Nouvelle Vague, Italian films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being in a car that smelled like Palinka, listening to manele music, having weird talks with a romanian driver, looking at the amazing landscapes and being dropped off by the driver in nowhere. Hitchhiking in Romania is just AWESOME!

Also I'm really proud of my trip as a lonely backpacker from Cluj-Napoca (Romania) to Belgrade (Serbia) and comeback only by hitchhiking. I met really nice people on the way and I managed to do Belgrade-Cluj in ONLY one day and it seemed impossible for me but after 16 hours and 8 cars/trucks, I did it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd always be happy to cook my famous Tortilla de Patatas (Spanish omelette) that is one of my most liked dish among my CS hosts/friends, but have so many other recipes I will have to share (yes, I really enjoy cooking)!
