About Me
Hey there! I am Adi, an Indonesian traveler and a firm believer that life is too short to stay in one corner and I am here to not only see the world but to connect with it. My friend introduced me to use this app and boy do I feel grateful that she did! I love Couchsurfing for the way it connects us to local lives and perspectives and that made me realize that the best part of travel is often the people we meet along the way.
Here’s something about me so you could have a sense if we would get along:
TRAVEL EXPERIENCES
- Started my solo traveling in 2023 with 11/195 countries & 69 cities visited in East & Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Middle East
- Best travel experiences so far:
🇮🇳 India (Oct - Nov 2024) - visited Ladakh (mountainous area in Northern side) during autumn time & experienced Indian hospitalities by getting connected with locals almost in every city during Diwali holiday
🇹🇷 Turkiye (Dec 2023 - Jan 2024) - first snow experience in Mt Uludag & hot air balloon in Cappadocia
- Next travel destinations: 🇦🇺🇪🇬🇲🇦🇹🇳🇶🇦🇵🇰
- Travel preferences: nature, picturesque buildings/monuments in the city, anything involving water activities. What I never experienced but wanted to: slow traveling where I could live the way the locals do
PERSONAL BACKGROUND
- 100% Indonesian. Have only lived in this country but have lived in 5 different cities - moved out of my parents’ house since 18 for university & work purposes, which made me relatively adaptable to different cultures & upbringings.
- Currently live in an industrial area 1.5hrs drive from Jakarta (the capital city of Indonesia) - that is why hosting is not possible at the moment.
- Oldest of 4 sons. The way I was raised & experience facing hardships in life, has made me an extremely ambitious, self-driven, and resilient.
- Work full time as a Buyer/Strategic Sourcing in Consumer Goods company and quite proud of & enjoying what I am doing.
HOBBIES & INTERESTS
- My type of unwinding between works/travels: Movies/TV Shows, Karaoke, Good Conversations, Books (Fiction & Non-fiction), Swimming/Hitting the Gym, and Spending Time in Nature
- What interests me: Photography, Music (a mainstream listener), Fashion, People Behavior / Pyschology, Leadership, Mindset & Self Improvement, Supply Chain, Business / Entrepreneurship, Social Media / Content Creation,
PERSONALITY TRAITS & VALUES
- Friendly, polite, my close friends would describe me as unexpectedly funny
- Sensitive - you would catch me crying easily over drama / slice of life movies
- Intuitive & visionary. A healthy balance between risk-taker & realist
- Naturally a problem solver - my whole life and engineering education have taught me this
- Value good & meaningful connections over wild party life
- I believe everything happens for a reason & being a learner is a lifetime job. And we can definitely learn from anything & anyone, both intentionally or not
- Always dreaming about moving abroad
