About Me
Hi, I am a Chicana-Indegena feminist born in Mexico and raised in Los Angeles. I am currently in graduate school working on a MA in community mental health. I am a vegetarian and mental health/healing justice activist I live in a big beautiful house with 4 other beautiful people in Oakland, CA. I like to spend my time going for walks around Lake Merritt, watching movies (on Netflix), reading , learning Qigong, and boxing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm new to Couchsurfing and since I will be traveling outside of the US-Mexican border I would like to get to know like minded folks.
Interests
I am a graduate student in community mental health. I really like talking about alternatives ways of healing/working in mental health that are culturally and spiritually relevant. I spend time attending spiritual ceremonies through the Bay Area and Los Angeles. I like going to music shows, art or community events bringing awareness to culture, politics, race, spiritually, health, and food!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love music! but I can't remember the name of songs. I like live shows and my music selection varies from Rock en Español, Tamborazo, Banda, rock, indie, cumbia, emo-music, hip pop, old school rap and more.
I really like Erikah Badu and Lauryn Hill!
I'm a movie junky, I love watching movies and willing to go to the theater. I like some Almodovar films, comedy, suspense, love Mexican cinema, indie flicks, and documentaries.
I really enjoy reading historical novels! I like learning about history through books, chicana fiction and history. I like Gloria Anzaldúa. I try to read in between textbooks and some fun stuff. I am currently reading Woman Who Glow in the Dark by Elena Avila.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During my visit to Mexico City (DF) I got to see Coatlicue “snake woman” and the Voladores de Papantla (Pole Flying) at the Museo de Antropoligia

I can teach you how to make your own spicy salsa, how to play the hand drum & sing traditional native songs, make medicine bundles, and , make delicious mexican veggie/vegan food.
I like to learn/listen/share stories about life, places, jokes, dreams, gifts, and more!
I would like to learn how to do wood work, play the bass, accordion, surf, and whistle
