meeting people from different cultures and making friends
ABOUT ME
The inhabitants of Morocco are arabs and berbers and lived side by side through the ages. It has an ancient history, especially that of the Berbers who mixed with many different peoples: Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals, Arabs, Jews, then French and Spaniards. The result is that Morocco has a wealth of historic monuments and ways of life (Berbers living in tents or small villages, Kasbahs, Centres of Islamic Learning and Sufism). My country offers a whole world for those interested in anthropology, theology and literature, a varied panorama of seas, deserts and mountains in close proximity, and a wealth of different cultures from one Berber tribe to another. If you pass through Morocco one day, do please come and visit. You are welcome in my house, which can accommodate up to five guests. I live in sidi rahal, a small, pleasant town between marrakech and elkalaa sraghna and at the foot High Atlas which you can cross in four days by mule or on foot. With my knowledge of the mountains and the desert sands, the culture and the history of the area I will help you discover a different, hidden Morocco far from the tourist traps and luxury hotels. Along zigzagging paths and hilltop tracks, whether in the Atlas or the Sahara, chance encounters with nomads will prove the hospitality of the locals and lead to magic moments around a pot of mint tea. Here more than nowhere elsewhere, the tourist is regarded as a friend. He will set out again with images full the head, and certainly a piece of Morocco will remain some share in its heart. I also aim to help fight poverty by employing nomads, mountain dwellers and desert peoples as muleteers, camel drivers and porters or by bringing them house guests. All are welcome
