Overview
About Me
Hey, I'm Adina Bloom! I was born in Texas, raised in Holliston, MA-a little town just outside of the city-and have lived in New York City for the last five and a half years. I originally moved to Manhattan to study musical theatre. I was able to do that at both The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and The New School (BFA). After I graduated I took on as many jobs as I could. In five years here I've been able to call myself at some point a dog walker for a year and a half, a sales associate-turned-manager at a ballroom dance shoe store for two and a half years, a bar tender at "The Lion King" on Broadway for one night (I was terrible at it), a cleaning lady for a couple of weeks (again-not for me), and most recently working as a receptionist at a yoga studio for a year and a half. I've loved and hated every single position I've held and am so thankful for each experience! I'm ready to take those lessons with me out West.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I heard about Couchsurfing through a friend who advised that I check it out for a whirlwind trip I'm planning this summer! See I love the city a lot, but we need a little break from each other, ha! So come June, I'll be exploring the West Coast while I work on receiving my 200-Hour yoga teacher certification in Walla Walla, Washington. I'm looking for places to stay while I'm out there, and I would love to be able to get to know these areas through the eyes of the locals. The program runs from the beginning of June to mid-August, so I'll be splitting my time between San Francisco, Portland, Walla Walla, and Seattle on the days that I'm not at the studio. I can't wait to run around the West Coast, as well as the folks that have been calling it home :)
Interests
I really like taking yoga classes, meandering around different neighborhoods with friends (or dogs!), hiking, camping, writing whatever comes to mind, all things related to music, watching comedies, and just generally being really silly!

Music, Movies, and Books
I try to keep my mind open when it comes to music, but some folks that have been on my brain these past couple of months have been Rubblebucket, Purple Texas Music, The Tune Yards, Balkan Beat Box, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and Gogol Bordello. All very different sounds, but all fantastic artists!
The most recent book I read that really stood out for me was "Norwegian Wood (Haruki Murakami). I'm currently reading Nick Offerman's book, "Paddle Your Own Canoe." A friend gave it to me as a gift since I'm a huge "Parks and Recreation" fan. I love it so far but I have yet to finish it. I usually read books when I'm on the subway in the city so I haven't been reading as much as I would like to be.
I don't really go to the movies much since it's really expensive in Manhattan, so I stick to whatever is on Netflix, or movies my friends own. Some of my favorites are, "Almost Famous," "Wet Hot American Summer," "An Education," "Walk the Line," and the Harry Potter series (of course, the books are genius!)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went against my boss's wishes and decided to go on the birthright trip I had signed up for over the summer. The trip eventually inspired me to leave that job.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to be able to eventually teach you yoga properly, I would love to learn as many languages as I can, and I would love for us all to be able to share our stories to each other.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I hope to share my love of exploring with you, my love of animals (if you have any), my appreciation for your space (I'm quite clean) and your community, and I just hope to share any kind of experience-something simple like a home cooked meal or a hike or two :)
