About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Getting my ducks in a row

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Adina and as I often like to joke, I'm a creative working undercover as an account manager in the PR industry, mostly communicating for electronic music artists, DJs and events. Sure that sounds awesome enough and it pays the bills too, but the truth is that it doesn't fully suit me.

So recently I decided to just quit my job and move to London to take on a couple of internships in the creative department of some local advertising agencies - I always wanted to become an Art Director but was never given the chance, so hope I'll manage to turn these internships around into a full-time job.

Even though I quit my PR/music job, I've always been and I'll always be interested in music, my fave activities being to attend gigs of bands on the rise, put my tent up for great line-ups at music festivals, but also shooting details with my lomo/DSLR and exploring the city I live in; wherever I live. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not currently hosting as I'm staying with a friend and looking for accommodation, but I'm always up for a coffee or a stroll around London and we can even take our cameras for a shooting tour around the city.

For a couple of months, I have organised a series of CS gatherings in Bucharest, for people interested in electro-indie music. I'm not doing that anymore, but I will always be available for CSers who wish to share thir latest music reccommendations with me and viceversa.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had my slow start with CS, but these days I'm trying to do more and more. :)

A couple of months back, I attended my first CS meeting and it was really fun to meet new people, all so different, but at the same time with an open mind towards trying new things.

Afterwards, I started organising, with a couple of friends, a series of parties for CSers interested in music, especially electro-indie. This experience has been tremendous fun, offering me the chance to meet CSers with whom I could share my interests, but from all over the world.

My next step was to surf on someone's couch in London and it was an awesome experience. I still keep in touch with my host and we go out whenever I'm in London. I discovered that it really works out when you take your time to dig deep for people who share your specific interests.

Music, Movies, and Books

I hardly watch any movies, but I'm addicted to TV series such as Modern Family, Mad Men, True Blood, Shameless and even Later with Jools Hollad.

I love the thrill of discovering new bands, but I guess that my all-time favourites would be The XX, Bon Iver, Gold Panda, The National, Matthew Dear, SBTRKT, bla bla and anything coming out on Kitsune.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been to Glastonbury's 40th birthday. That's what they call epic!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have studied Marketing Communications, I have experience in PR and I'm currently steering my career towards Advertising. If this is an area you feel attracted to, wish to know more about or would like to have a debate on, I am open for requests. :D

I also took five years of piano lessons, so I can teach you a song or two if there's a piano available. Guitar is another instrument I know how to play, but only as an amateur. However, I guess I can teach you a few riffs if you like. :D

Moreover, I can teach anybody interested in learning Romanian a few useful phrases, in order to get by around the city. I can share my stories and experiences with anybody interested in the lifestyle of Romanian youngtsers.

I am open to learning from others in life and some areas I would always welcome a few tips are: advertising, graphic design, illustration, photography, Spanish, traveling.
