About Me

I'm a 22-year-old recent graduate of my school’s social work program. I went to a small university in the Midwest, but I grew up and live in Portland, OR. For the past four years, my life has been jam packed with with school, internships, research, work, clubs and on-campus organizations, music, and hangouts with friends. Now that my time in undergrad has come to an end, I'll finally have the chance to figure out how to apply all that I've learned as I work and travel and choose a masters in social work program that best suits my interests in environmental policy, therapy, school or hospital social work! I’ve got a lot of interests and now it’s a matter of choosing between them.

The thing that has pulled me through all of these years is the glimmers I've had of other cultures and languages in high school and college. The prospect of broadening my world as I take in life from new perspectives is absolutely thrilling to me. My personal and professional lives have been made all the richer for the intercultural experiences I've already had. I can't wait to see where my future experiences add to my life. I'm excited to contribute to the lives of others I come into contact with all of my wanderings at home and abroad!

In my spare time, I enjoy reading both nonfiction and fiction alike, hiking, listening to music and having great discussions with friends. I’m an only child and as a result, I grew up being a bit shy and isolated. In the past few months and years, I’ve really been coming out of my shell! I’m learning to love getting to know people, putting myself out there and trying things I’ve previously never given a chance. I’m a pretty flexible, accommodating sort of guy, so whether there’s an hour by hour plan or I’m just going with the flow, I’m comfortable either way.

P.S. I’m fully vaccinated and boosted 😉

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I entering a stage in my life where I have the flexibility, time and resources to do a bit of traveling. I've have this burden on my heart to travel, master Spanish and gain proficiency and eventual fluency in other languages.

It's my hope and goal to create lasting bonds between myself and the individuals and families I'll stay with. I'm eager to immerse myself in the lives and culture of my host, and be as great a help as I can be with chores around the home, and other odds and ends. I'm excited to create a network of friends and found family.

What I Can Share with Hosts

There’s so much I want to learn, and if a host decides to have me at their home, I’ll gladly share my time, energy, and eager spirit with them. My social work training + my personality have helped me to become an excellent listener and overall helper. If there are odd jobs, chores, a meal that needs to be cooked, I’m your man!

I also have, a perspective, and a general positive, gracious attitude that I’ll share by default and some life advice and wisdom that I’ve picked up along the way that I can share if you’d like it. I expect we’ll do a lot of mutual sharing of that :)

I’m my free time I love to write, and I was a writer and editor in my university’s newspaper, so I can share my copy editing and creative writing skills with you as well.
