About Me

I'm musically obsessed but also into film, books, fútbol (soccer) and sort of a news junkie. Love getting into deep conversations about politics, religion, history, consciousness, spirituality, morality etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Growing up in two pretty different countries (Guatemala and US) I've always appreciated learning from people with different backgrounds. I love to travel, meet people and always am looking for ways to empower others to do the same! But who doesn't right?

Interests

Most of my free time is spent discovering music, movies, comedy and trying to stay informed about events happening worldwide. I write a super amateur blog of sorts where I mostly just share music, check it out here https://woolgathering798.wordpress.com/! Over the last few years I've also gotten really into cooking, cause food is life. I went vegetarian and then vegan over the last two years and love finding ways to make food cheap, delicious, nutritious and cruelty free!

Music, Movies, and Books

LOVE MUSIC! Lots of different stuff mostly listen to beats, hip-hop, acoustic and ambient stuff. A few favorite bands/artists: Dirty Projectors, Sigur Ros, Panda Bear, Flying Lotus, Eliott Smith, Grizzly Bear. A few favorite movies: Embrace of the Serpent, Amelie, Birdman, Magnolia, Enter the Void. Some favorite books: No Logo, Parable of the Sower, Rayuela (Hopscotch), Post Office, 1984, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest .

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Gee, don't really think I've done that many "amazing" things, at least not universally amazing. One pretty unique thing I did once was a 10 day silent meditation Vipassana retreat when I was 20. I had never really meditated before that and decided to just jump into the deep end. The experience was definitely challenging to say the least, especially since you can't talk, listen to music or stimulate yourself the way we (I) often do. Although, I almost never meditate nowadays the experience definitely changed the way I look at myself and life at large... definitely recommend it!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can help you with Spanish/English or teach you how to cook some delicious vegan food.
Learn: I'd love to learn more about you, your background, what you believe in, your favorite art, craziest places you've been.
Share: I can always share an open mind and a positive attitude!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm easy going and can be as social or independent as hosts/guests are feeling. I consider myself an ambivert so I can be a people person but I also can always use some time to just socially unplug.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, England, France, Germany, Honduras, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain
