Overview
About Me
Hey! I am a photographer, filmmaker, writer and trail runner with a passion for adventure and love of the mountains. I have just finished my studies at university in Falmouth, UK and am looking to spend some time travelling the world, learning, meeting new people and pursuing my creative passions. It's a dream of mine to live a simple life, close to nature and I'm looking for a positive community to be apart of and contribute towards in whatever way I can. I love connecting with other people, learning about different ways of life and sharing experiences, as well as making the most out of life! Some of my other passions include reading books, watching 90's films, listening to music, playing drums, as well as cooking tasty vegan meals.
I have two instagram accounts which I use to share my creative things: @veganadrian for vegan recipes & my trail running adventures, and @adrianhowellphotos for my travel photography and writing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm visiting Chamonix from the 21st September with the intention of pursuing my passion for trail and mountain running, meeting like-minded people and generally just having an awesome adventure. I wish to spend autumn in the alps, because I love taking pictures in the mountains and capturing the beautiful autumnal colours. It's really important for me to connect with and meet new people when I travel, as I feel this is the most valuable part of the travel experience - to hear other people's stories and to create good memories. So, my reason for being on Couchsurfing is to have a more authentic travel and experience and to have a good time with like-minded people!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is one of my favourite passions, and I like to listen to a wide variety of different genres from all over the world. I'm a huge fan of soul music, everything ranging from Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, to Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, as well as more modern soul music like D'Angelo and Erykah Badu. I also love 90's hip hop, funk, African music (e.g Ali Farka Touré & Fela Kuti) and blues. I love a lot of 90's alternative music like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, RHCP, The Smashing Pumpkins etc. The list could potentially go on forever but I love listening to music that comes from the heart, anything that has a catchy, funky and soulful beat to it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm an endurance athlete and in May 2018 I rode my bike 200 miles across Wales from South to North in 15 hours, in order to raise money for Mind, the mental health charity. I woke up at 4am, left at sunrise and conquered (and destroyed myself) up over 4000 metres worth of hills and mountains, battling heavy rain, 30mph+ headwinds, storms, fuelled by a lot of sugar and caffeine, until I finally reached the sea at the tip of Wales after sunset. I ended up raising over £1000 and it was one craziest, scariest, and most exhilarating experiences of my life. Just the beginning of many more crazy adventures!
Teach, Learn, Share
I have been studying photography for 7 years, having just graduated with a degree in Marine & Natural History Photography. I love to share my passion for capturing beauty in simplistic things, and would love to share this with others. I'm also skilled with editing video as I studied filmmaking during university.
I also got very high grades in English in school, so would be happy to share some English language and writing skills with people.
I've been learning and improving my cooking skills since I first went vegan over 5 years ago and had to learn to cook for myself. In combination, I decided to get fit and healthy, ended up losing over 25 kilos and reshaped myself (literally) into an endurance athlete. Over the years I have accumulated a lot of knowledge surrounding health, fitness, meditation, nutrition, sustainable weight loss etc. So I would be happy to share what has worked for me.
I'm sure there are others things I have missed out, but I love connecting with and helping other people in whatever way I can!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my vegan/plant-based cooking skills and create some delicious feasts (even meat eaters like my food, don't worry!) I can share my knowledge surrounding photography, filmmaking, video editing, health, fitness, nutrition, and most importantly a good sense of humour and some adventurous stories from what I have experienced so far in my life.
