About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to stay curious, perhaps? and to eat good food, if possible. and share it.

ABOUT ME

Grew up in Basle, spent 8 years or so away in Japan and then mainly in London. Came back to Switzerland another 12 years+ ago as the family business took me over. Now I am more free again, happy to welcome couchsurfers and for sure I still have the travel bug...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have travelled quite a bit myself, often going to see friends I knew from London in their "natural habitats" all over the world - which was great. Will try to be a good host in Basel. I do enjoy having people over and show them a bit of the city - if that is what they want.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First I hosted a young swiss couple (and their baby turtle) and took them swimming in the Rhine. not the turtle, though, too young.
And then there was my first proper international couchsurfing experience: I lured an experienced Macedonian CS-couple to Switzerland by promising them endless nutella... it worked! and then... and then...

Interests

the secret is out: my main interest is to eat croissants with nutella! (800kcal, approx.)
other then that I enjoy big cities, weekend breaks, much longer breaks, catching up with friends, eating good food, cooking if i find the time, reading, reading while drinking coffee, hanging out in relaxed and sometimes arty spots, and fireworks, obviously.
what interests me most when abroad is usally everyday life (what in german is called "Alltagskultur"), trying out local food, and everything that has to do with buildings and people in general. i am happy to walk around for hours in order to discover a city.

Music, Movies, and Books

Prefer studio to hollywood - even though there are exceptions.
But then, the movie hardly ever beats the book...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

this is yet to come, for sure... or wait? swimming in the amazon followed by fishing for piranhas only for the cat in the jungle camp to eat my catch?
