About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn chinese; learn to play sax and plant some trees

ABOUT ME

I am the kind of person who likes meeting new and different people all the time. I come from Guanajuato, a state of central Mexico, which is very beautiful and highly recommendable for traveling as well. I am a freelance professional environmentalist who works under projects, therefore I move constantly from one city to another city, and sometimes even countries. I am an engineer specialized in environmental and energy planning as well as urban development. Normally work as external consultant for local governments to help them to improve their transport systems, with pollution and greenhouse gas inventories. I perform environmental and energy audits in Mexico, Central America and Caribbean. I was previously working for an international NGO that focused on the elaboration of Climate Action Plans for Latin American Cities.I am currently elaborating a sustainability strategy for an important bank.

PHILOSOPHY

Humans are fully natural creatures. Thus, nature does not equal environment when we are talking about the human-environment relationship. This relationship stands within nature as a whole. What I mean by this is that humans (and their hominid ancestors) have been a part of natural landscapes for more than three million years (homo sapiens sapiens, for more than 50,000 years). We should not view nature as something from which humans are inherently absent; and wilderness, as a natural place from which all trace of humans is absent, is a problematic concept. Second, having accepted humans as fully natural, we must ask whether there is any "natural" limit to human action. In other words, are we compelled on this basis to accept Mexico City as a "natural landscape?" And, if we are not so compelled, what does this mean about our concept of nature? We need to identify and understand how it is that humans can be natural creatures and yet Mexico City can still be viewed as an "unnatural" creation.
