Overview
About Me
Free-spirited and down to earth, love to explore and learn about different cultures. In my free time, I love to put the phone away and go on hikes, kayak, bike, tent out, build a campfire, go on the boat, or anything outdoors. I work in a school district working with students with behavioral challenges, autism being my expertise. I have volunteered and gone to Nicaragua to work at a special needs school and provide behavior trainings and services to the staff there. I have recently discovered a whole foods plant-based diet, and love learning about the research behind plant based foods and how they effect our health. I'm passionate about health and wellness, and have even recently started a certification program to become a Health Coach.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I visit different places and countries, I like to fully immerse myself in the culture. In my opinion, that's the only way to do it right. I want to meet new people and learn how the locals experience their cities, and leave a better person than when I arrived.

Music, Movies, and Books
I will listen to pretty much any music, but country music is my ultimate favorite. I'm currently really interested in Buddhism so have been reading books by the Dalai Lama. As for movies, show me any comedy and I'll be content.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to Nicaragua and volunteered at a special needs school there. I provided trainings to the staff on managing challenging behavior. It was such an eye opening experience to see how vastly different schools are in different countries, especially countries with limited resources. While I was in Nicaragua, I volcano surfed down an active volcano, which was easily one of my favorite experiences.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach how to cook a delicious vegan meal!
