ABOUT ME
Hi! I am an English Language teacher and writer from Vancouver, BC. I have used couchsurfing while backpacking in Mexico (Jan - April 2010) and organic farming on Maui (Jan - May 2012) - i had nothing but outstanding experiencing and acquaintances with terrific and like-minded people!
Working as an English language teacher in Vancouver, I am blessed with the chance to meet people of all ages, from every corner of the globe.
My work gives me the chance to take time off throughout the year for camping, writing projects, backpacking, and road trips.
I am a health nut and love exercise and healthful and conscientious living is my world. I also practice a lot of yoga - lots of different schools of thought and practice have had a wonderful impact on my health and spirit. I did a one month intensive Agama yoga retreat in Oaxaca, Mexico, in 2010, and have been practicing Bikram yoga for six and a half years. If I can save up enough money, I'd love to do Bikram yoga teacher training this year or next year, which has been a long-time dream of mine.
At this time, I am planning a road trip (Feb-March) down the coast of Washington, Oregon and California, with the possibility of heading inland if the opportunity beckons. I plan to swim, hike, explore, cycle, do yoga, meet people and perhaps even try my hand at a little stand-up comedy.
PHILOSOPHY
Never give in. Never give in. Never give in.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Until this point I have only participated by basking in the warmth of hospitality myself, though I have hosted international students (though not thru CS per se). I finally do have a couch available, though, and would love to offer it up to various travellers over the next few months leading up to my trip!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far it's been fantastic. Better than I expected.
Interests
My interests include music, philology, philosophy, higher education, literature, the ocean, history, (especially ancient), religious studies, movies, feminism, teaching, animals and animal rights, life on other planets, international cuisine and cooking (but not baking!), yoga, painting and drawing, law of attraction, healthy living, alternative and or traditional therapies such as Qi Gong, massage, NLP, ( also - alternative medicine including food as medicine, and alternative views on health), get-togethers, hiking, cycling, and natural/supernatural phenomena.

Music, Movies, and Books
Many, many, many. I love character-based fiction and I'm addicted to all kinds of music and you will always catch me with my ipod on. I also read a lot of non-fiction and watch documentaries. Update: wow, of all the things from back home I miss now that I've been on the road for three months, movies are pretty much at the top of my list!
