CURRENT MISSION

I'm trying to make philosophy an easier thing to enjoy for everyone through music, journalism and jokes. A tangential mission: exhaust the options to give my parents their first travel out of the country :)

ABOUT ME

I'm a philosopher, in love with the idea of making philosophy a more earthy and healing thing thorugh music and journalism.
I have a masters degree in philosophy. The philosopher I talk about in my dissertation is Jürgen Habermas and his commendable idea of, no matter what, if we are really determined to have a rational and even dialogue, we can...(Ok, my teachers would kill me for reduce his theory to three sunday school lines but...oh! well, philosophy...)
I have a band, named Presto! in which I do the lead voice and play bass. The band's name was inspired, among other things, in one of our favorite band's albums: Rush's Presto, adopting as well the legendary bunnies from the Presto tour as our mascot. That's why I collect bunnies of all sizes and languages =:B
We are about to record our first EP/album, till then I'm still looking for inspiration!
I love to cook, and even when I didn't study to be a professional chef (I'm planning to do it soon) I call myself a happy one! My friends say I'm a "great" one...maybe because they just love me but if I have some talent it's because of my grannies and their lovely teaching. I'm good, but I'd like you to confirm it!
Right now I'm in love with David Sylvian but I looooooove any kind of music, as long as it is made with a bit of an effort... I really enjoy those story tellers who make me discover the way some musicians went through all kind of trouble in order to take out of their souls that treasure we all enjoy at the end in the comfort of our couches!
Well, If my NOT GUILTY pleasures help to describe myself, here they are:
*I've been a huge fan of Hello Kitty since I was in my mom's womb.
*I have two tattoos: one in each leg. One says "Kurt Cobain"...you know as a signature (Yes, as if Cobain were that kind of artist) made the day of his first death anniversary. The other one is a couple of dolphins jumping to see each other faces. I know it's corny but, well, I was in love...
*I'm a bit of a drunk! :) Naaaa, but I do enjoy discovering new kinds of alcoholic beverages: from red wine (I'm learning the art!) to beers, pulque, mezcal, sake, tequila...I'm too old not to behave so don't be scared :)
*Yes, I'm a Sex And The City addict! I'm a mix of Samantha and Carrie :P
*My boyfriend likes to call me Monica though..he says I'm a maniac like the Friends character...What I think is that he enjoys his mesiness!I'm just organized when it comes to a party, my songs, my essays, my clothes, my mic sound, my e-mails, my rituals, my cooking, my .. :D
*I can watch Candy Candy and then make my homework while listening to Scott Walker's "The Drift". I love contrast in everything...
*I'm kind of extreme. No grey. Black or white. Not aristotelic at all... Is that good or bad? :)
*My dream: Being able to read all those narrative books I couldn't read while I was "wasting" (:P) my time with philosophy, drinking bourbon in my own house, at a spanish or french forest. It may be a commonplace, but I don't give a &%$#/&$/&
*...Did I say I speak as a sailor sometimes? Of course I don't when I just knew you though, I'm just kind of effusive.
* And I get more effusive when I'm watching football! I love it!
*I love dancing, specially salsa, so I maybe will invite you to help me practicing!
*I'm a night owl but I wouldn't mess with your sleeping. Besides, I don't snore. I swear!

I found this project wandering in Yahoo a few months before my first travel to Europe. It looked like a coincidence but I don't believe in coincidences so, I guess it's just fate.
I'm still learning about this and I 'd really like to host somebody some day. At the moment I'm still trying to convince my roomie though! :/

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My friends say it's amazing that I can sing like Dolores O'Riordan, Janis Joplin and/or Shakira, sometimes during the same song... I'm not good at accepting compliments but I love being able to do it and I'd die if I lose my voice

I think the most easy thing to share at this moment could be some philosophy stuff...
I don't see myself as a teacher, but what I know about bass playing I could share too :)
