About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore and live life to its fullest.
ABOUT ME
I am currently living in Seoul, Korea with my boyfriend. I work as an ESL instructor. I have lived and taught in China, and the Czech Republic before moving to Korea. I have been in Korea for about a year and a half, but we only recently moved to Seoul. I had lived in Portland, Oregon for 14 years prior to moving abroad.
I love the arts- all aspects of the arts. I also like to be active and to explore this grand planet. I think getting away from what you know, and where you are comfortable helps you to grow as a person, and also gives you a stronger understanding of what life is outside of yourself. An exploration of the big picture- for lack of better words. Also, as a story teller- traveling is a wonderful way to get ideas.
PHILOSOPHY
Live each day like it's the last, and always remember that "this too will pass."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
At the moment our place is not set up to receive any guest, but as soon as we get a space for someone to sleep then we will be able to help you out. I understand how much couch surfing can help extend a persons travel and also it's a great way to see a country and meet new people. Also, when you are not traveling it is an opportunity to meet others how are doing what you love to do.
Interests
I mentioned that I love the arts. I like theatre, film, writing, acting, screen and scriptwriting. I love photography. I enjoy going to museums and I have a strong interest in history and historical sights. I love music and dancing. I think dancing is a great from of expression and exercise. When it comes to exercise I like swimming and running. I enjoy yoga when I do it, and I really like that David Lynch is doing more Twin Peaks, and that Wes Anderson and Richard Linklater exist- along with so many other artists that have inspired me.
For me, literature is the strongest way to tell the story of the human condition. It inspire empathy and connection in ways that movies can not (and I love film) because you can become the character you are in the book. You don't turn off your brain when you read literature you activate it- and that's why love reading and writing and poetry.
I also enjoy museums, and history. I was a tour guide in Prague and I never got tired of walking around the city and learning then sharing its history.

Music, Movies, and Books
I recently read James Baldwin's, "Go Tell it on the mountain" and it was beautiful. I like just about any film by Linklater, Wes Anderson. I'm also a fan of Scorsese. My favorite books are The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Postcards, Bastard Out of Carolina, The Sun Also Rises-and all short stories by Hemingway. I also like stories by Raymond Carver- just to name a few.
My music taste is all over the place, but my favorites are Radiohead, The Pixies, The Knife, Woody Guthrie, Sufjan Stevens, Kid Cudi, MosDEf, Common, The Ramones...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hiked over 2,000 meters to the south peak of China's Hua Shan. It is considered one of the most dangerous mountains in China. It had over 5000 steps that were thousands of years old and carved into the mountain side. You used chains to pull yourself up. It was definitely dangerous, and a huge challenge. At one point I wasn't sure if I would be able to pull myself up but I realized that if I let go not only would I kill myself but I'd take about 50 people with me because even on a mountain China is crowded. It was an amazing view from above the clouds.
My knees still hurt from the 5000 plus stairs.
