About Me

I'm an open-minded and curious person with a passion for learning new things. I have friends from all over the world thanks to my high school and to the fact that I've spent the past 6 years working for multinational companies. I'm still a student, doing a PhD in Russian linguistics. I have a part-time job at a call center which I would gladly give up for something that brings me closer to people (hopefully my boss is not reading this) :)
I have a lot of trust in other people but at the same time I'm prepared for their not being perfect, noone is. I can safely say that this philosophy works, I have never really been let down or disappointed by anybody in my life.
I have few close friends but I'm always open to finding new ones. Unfortunately I'm terrible at keeping in touch with those who are far away, but when we meet again, we always pick up where we left off.
I'm amazed and inspired by those people who have a strong passion about something. You know, the kind of crazy people who are so devoted to something that they don't mind if people laugh at them or if they look a little strange, they will still do what they love so passionately. It can be anything, really, it doesn't matter if I don't know anything about the object of their interest, I just feel a deep respect for and a strong attraction to these people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So far I have mostly been hosting rather than travelling and I've been lucky enough to meet some amazing people thanks to Couchsurfing! I went to an international high school in India where I made friends from all over the world. Couchsurfing is a very similar experience: it allows you to learn a lot from other people, to hear about their experiences, to discover their culture and values and to see your own world through their eyes.

Interests

Languages, travelling, swimming, reading, cooking and tasting :)
Walking long distances on Margaret Island when the leaves are falling,
I have just discovered kettlebell and I love it! I have yet to try out yoga and meditation, I have a feeling that I would like these activities. Unfortunately I don't play any musical instrument but if I ever have the time I would love to learn to play the violin or the chello.

What I Can Share with Hosts

First of all, my couch in return for theirs :)
I'm fond of languages and I'm happy to share my knowledge of Hungarian, French or Russian, I can talk hours and hours about what life is like in my home country, including eyewitness accounts from the communist era: I lived the first 3 years of my life under the communist rule :) Ok, that's a joke, but I do have a special interest in the Eastern Bloc, Cold War and communist heritage in Hungary and other countries.
I'm a cheerful person with not too many weird habits, I enjoy getting to know new people and learning about cultures, lifestyles, experiences.
