About Me

Haiiii I'm Mallory/Mal/Sol, a 36-year-old traveler from Texas, currently balancing a full-time job with my love for exploring new places and meeting people from all walks of life. Traveling looks like driving into a city’s unique food scene, hiking along scenic trails, and, if I'm lucky, meeting otherwise to chat and learn about each other's experiences, I’m all about making genuine connections and unforgettable memories.

I’m an athletic foodie, and you’ll often find me running, swimming, or practicing tennis in between work and travel. I’ve had the pleasure of living abroad in Thailand, teaching English, and experiencing the local culture firsthand. This experience taught me so much about the importance of community and inspired me to keep exploring.

I’m currently working on improving my Spanish and French, so if you speak either language, I’d love to practice! In my downtime, I enjoy reading (sci-fi and fantasy are my go-tos), blogging, and making creative content for my YouTube channel. I’m passionate about experiencing life to the fullest, trying new cuisines, and enjoying local adventures.

Looking forward to sharing stories, laughter, and meals with fellow travelers!

Interests

I enjoy staying active and curious through a variety of hobbies. I love reading, especially science fiction, fantasy, and some self-development books, which help me relax and expand my perspective. Tennis challenges me physically, while meeting new people and practicing the languages I’m learning (Spanish and French) keeps me socially engaged. I'm passionate about discovering new restaurants and sharing those experiences on my blog, where I also reflect on my adventures in hiking. These activities help me continually learn, grow, and stay connected to the world around me.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste is all over the place—I love pop oldies and hits from different decades. I’m into artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and The Cranberries, but I usually only like a few songs from each artist. My favorite book is The Alchemist—I’ve read it a bunch of times because its message about believing in yourself and going after your dreams really sticks with me. I also really enjoyed Dungeon Crawler Carl, All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries), Homeland (Legend of Drizzt), Upgrade by Blake Crouch, and Super Powereds: Year 1. When it comes to movies, I’m all about comedies and dramas. Night at the Roxbury is a nostalgic favorite—I grew up watching it, and I still find it hilarious. I’m also a huge fan of Yes Man, and Everything Everywhere All at Once.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once quit my software job with just two weeks' notice to follow my passion for living abroad. I spent a year in Thailand teaching English, and while I eventually came back because there were things I missed, I’m really proud of the leap I took and everything I learned from that experience.
