ABOUT ME

I am an adventuring artist. I am www.adventuringart.com with the help of thousands of people over the years. I'm one of the "lucky ones" with art all over the world and some crazy art installations around the country. This does not mean I have a lot of money, but I am constantly making art and selling it almost right away with a sustainable career. I also rescue Vanagons. I am the keeper of The Great Golden Vanagon given to me by the Valley of the People. Most gypsies would know me as The Cat Man. With a career that allows me such freedoms I basically travel around following the cat gatekeepers to their lands of the underground. :-) In person I'm not as crazy as this paragraph may depict.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that The Earth is our creator and that she is a conscious being with far more to offer than any human conceptualized civilizations. My missions are dictated by Earth's movements and I interpret them through the creatures of nature.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been doing art/philosophy professionally for 10 years, and I've done hundreds of miles on bicycling tours and lived in a Vanagon (or some previous vessels) for close to 5 years. I supply art for longer term stays such as artist residencies and couch-surf around the united states to meet locals and share skills. Participating couchsurfers have always been amazingly helpful in discovering hidden art spaces, connecting with local artists and helping me get involved in the "real" art communities during "Art / Tour Season"

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed all over the united states. I've discovered community housing and amazing people that have supported me in so many amazing ways I cannot thank this community enough. You have really helped make Adventuring Art possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: arty whacked out stuff like The Knife (new fav.) fever ray, little dragon, cat power, and it gets a little deeper and nastier because I refine music into visual art.. and enjoy many spectrums as long as they invoke the emotions I need. Movies: I'm not super stoked on TV watching all the time, but... all 90s movies lol.. cult classics, weird indies, Kubrick, Wes Anderson, Also most nerdy films.. Current Book: Homer's Odyssey (Not the one you're thinking)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I rescued a tiny kitten from the cold rainy winter of Washington. She stayed with me and knew only me of reality. I fell in love and could not give her up. She lived in my hoodie on the bike, on my shoulder when she got too big, and then in the first Adventuring Art Vanagon. She saw both oceans, The Appalachians, The Rockies, The Pacific and Northern Crests, she played in the deserts, ran in the plains, dug holes in the dirt, was afraid of rivers, and absolutely captured my heart. She lost her life during holiday season in 2013. She is buried in Big Sur facing the ocean. While this devastated me in many ways, my connection with her was greater than any I've experienced with human beings. It was by far the most profound experience of my life.
