About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learn something and be kind everyday; spend time with great people

ABOUT ME

I'm a friendly, curious, happy person.
I smile a lot, such that people might think I'm an idiot;
I'll take that risk... after all, one has to manage their own morale. :)

I'm a computer scientist and amateur artist.

I'm a dynamic individual, capable of manipulating both time and space.
Nature's laws do not apply to me.
I detest hyperbole.

PHILOSOPHY

I am an agnostic that likes people to be tolerant and to coexist, regardless of their beliefs.

Be compassionate.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've had some great times in CS so far. My prior experience hosting is years of accommodating prospective or incoming graduate students... and showing them the best parts of my city, but only if it happens that they're interested.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I appreciate (and share) friendly generosity, and seeing the environs where great people choose to live or that nurture them.
I like sharing stories... often a recipe for laughter. :)

Interests

Activities: biking, hiking, swimming, boating, witty repartee, idiotic banter, foosball, darts, pool, inline skating.

Interests: great beer, travel, dining, art, word play, science, philosophy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a lot of music, and see a lot of local live music - usually free; most often, I enjoy live blues, bluegrass, alt-folk, alt-country, and rock.

I don't see a lot of movies... mostly because I'm a critical reviewer (in a good way. :) ... I like ambitious movies that sweep me away but also make me think.
"Run Lola Run" is high on my list of favorite movies.
A recent spectacular movie that I saw was "Enter the Void."
We have lots of great free movie opportunities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Madison has a Sundance theatre, so we get proper art films too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've roller-bladed/street-skated in cities all over the world.
I've been the mascot for a roller-derby team.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn and teach about cooking.
Here's my cooking blog: http://KitchenConvivial.com

I'm an Internet researcher, so I can describe how the Internet works in its entirety, over a beer, with diagrams on a bar napkin.
Don't worry, I'd only do that if you insist... and why would you do that? :)

I know something of art, printmaking and other art media and like sharing thoughts on contemporary art.
