About Me

After working for 2 years in Amsterdam I decided to take a break (already!) and travel as much as possible.
The goal was to reflect on my past experiences and think about what I want to do with my life, while traveling. Today I don't know much more about what I'll do in the future... but the traveling part worked out pretty welI!
I started traveling in the beginning of 2015 in South East Asia, then drove around the Balkans with some friends, then eastern Europe, then Cape Town, then I escorted some refugees from Nairobi to New York before going on yet another big-ass roadtrip in Argentina, flew to visit my brother in Shanghai, escaped to Jeju Island (South Korea), made it to Japan, flew back to Shanghai and finally thought "Fuck it, I'm going home without taking the plane". China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia, Italy and France. Home Sweet Home!
Well not for long because after less than a week in Nantes I flew back to Cape Town, a city I've had a crush on since I visited it earlier this year.
And here I am now, looking to settle for a bit. About time!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm sort of an old beginner here. I've traveled a lot and had the chance to surf friends' couches on many occasions but rarely using couchsurfing.org.
The thing is: either I travel with friends and we stay in hostels, guesthouses, airbnbs and hotels, or I travel on my own in which case I tend to target places where some friends live and can host me. It's my own way of couchsurfing :)

Interests

Learning new things everyday through places I go, people I meet, food I taste...

Sports (all of them except those where there is 5 seconds of action followed by 5 minutes of commercial break)

Movies, IT...

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not really the type to have a "favorite". When it comes to arts and culture my pleasure comes from the diversity. But okay... I'll give it a try!

Band: Pink Floyd (haven't listened to them much lately but I guess if I was stuck on an island and I could only pick.... you know the drill!)
Movie: There Will Be Blood, we'd have to talk about that one, too much to say!
Book: Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In March this year, I escorted 2 minor Congolese refugees from the camp where they were staying in Nairobi (Kenya) to their foster family in New York. To be honest it wasn't a particularly difficult job, however being part of this life changing trip for the 2 boys was in itself amazing!
While doing this 2-day Nantes-Amsterdam-Nairobi-Dubai-New York trip I've also stood on 4 continents in a rather short amount of time. On a whole different level this was pretty unusual too!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you things about France, its language and culture, the airline industry, some IT skills maybe? (depending on how skilled you are yourself), traveling tips of course but I'm sure it's common knowledge around here ;)

I'm eager to learn new languages but mostly to understand the people of each country, how they live and why they live this way. Any new game or sport will definitely get my attention!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Deep conversations as well as casual chatting, a meal, a drink!
I make crêpes like a pro. Of course, they're from my region ;)
We can go running or hiking or cycling together!
