About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn as much as I can and hopefully have some fun along the way.
ABOUT ME
I am a son of the Air Force and spent most of my childhood moving around the US and Germany. I graduated from the College of Charleston with a philosophy major and theatre minor. I spent a lot of my college years overextending myself, working in IT, journalism, theatre, French kitchens and farms. I look forward to slowing down some and working only one or two jobs and enjoying myself.
I am still trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up, right now it is a toss up between teaching and the US Foreign Service. In the meantime I am transitioning from teaching sewing and tailoring to Karen and Nepali refugees to teaching English in Korea. The next step is a writing/IT job in Hong Kong or Taiwan if I am lucky.
PHILOSOPHY
I have a reluctant foundation as a Kantian and my formal education is in Continental philosophy and some modern analytical.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am just starting. I hope to host CSers when I get my apartment set up in South Korea, and I hope I can find people to host me as I travel.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have not had the pleasure of hosting anyone yet or surfing with anyone, but I have had great experiences with the Seoul and Korea groups. I love meeting up with other CSers for social events.
Interests
Sewing and tailoring: Mostly this is a utilitarian interest
Cooking: Lately I have been fermenting anything I can get my hands on. Preserved lemons, pickles, kimchi, kombucha, and ginger beer. Once I get started I am going to start curing meat and brewing beer.
Cultural studies: been reading quite a few Georgian anthropological studies and epic poetry (mostly just Shota Rustaveli).
Public and Foreign Policy: I am one of the few people I know that actually enjoys watching CSPAN occasionally.
I love podcasts.

Teach, Learn, Share
I pride myself on being able to competently perform quite a few skilled trades, some I get paid for and some I just perform for myself. I think I know a good bit about homesteading (canning, curing, pickling, gardening, preserving). I have worked as a tailor, mechanic, carpenter, house handyman, plumber, landscaper, gardener, journalist, computer tech, and cook. If I can teach something I'll be happy to and I am always looking to learn something new.
