About Me

I am a student studying international security in Paris, but who is originally from America. I have always been fascinated by different cultures and learning different languages, as I find the perspectives of the many different people I meet through school and travel to be very interesting. While growing up, the importance of travel and seeing the world has always been impressed upon me; now, after living in France since last September, I have only recently begun to actively travel by myself, and I love it. As well as loving travel, I also enjoy reading (spending hours in bookstores pursuing the sci-fi, politics, and science sections, in particular), gaming (Skyrim, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Elder Scrolls Online - I love open-world games), and cooking (especially trying out new recipes).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to make more connections with people who also enjoy traveling and sharing their cultures with other people. After several good experiences traveling, I wanted to branch out and make more connections, and I heard that Couchsurfing was a great way to do this!

Music, Movies, and Books

My current favorite book is Ender's Game [and the resulting series, though I've only read through Children of the Mind] by Orson Scott Card]; I love the mixing of philosophy with politics and general sci-fi themes. In terms of movies, I love Interstellar [huge surprise - another science fiction movie!] and post-apocalyptic movies and shows in general.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once spent a week on a horse trek in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. It was an awesome experience. The country was beautiful and I got to experience what it was like to live "in the wild" - no running water (that involves plumbing - there were plenty of streams, though!], pitching tents at night, etc. I also experienced a full mountain thunderstorm, during which we continued riding. In addition to lots of lightning, thunder, and rain, it also snowed/hailed - definitely a cold but awesome experience.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, Slovakia, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
