About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling in Mexico end of 2017.

ABOUT ME

I'm originally from California. I have a location independent job, which means I can travel anywhere and take my work with me. So I've been living the nomad life for about 5 years :)

My favorite travel experiences include exploring the cafés and bookstores of Buenos Aires, hiking to Inca ruins around Cusco, melting from the heat in Cartagena, eating at the street side phở shops in Hanoi, and completing a 4,000km road trip through West Africa.

PHILOSOPHY

Ditch the preconceptions, embrace the unexpected, go with an open mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy meeting locals and travelers, surfers and hosts at CS events. I try to surf and host surfers when possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been lucky enough to participate in vibrant CS communities in Buenos Aires and Cusco. I've hosted a few times and will do it again once I have a flat :)

Interests

I like playgrounds, headstands and other inversions. We should all be upside more often.

Things that make me happy: coffee, good food, good conversation, good museums, and exploring new places on foot. Long road trips are my favorite.

Music, Movies, and Books

My fav writers: Sandra Cisneros, Toni Morrison, Octavia Butler, Junot Diaz, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, James Baldwin, Juan Gabriel Vasquez, Francisco Goldman, Jhumpa Lahiri, Cheryl Strayed, Nnedi Okorafor, Rebecca Solnit, Taiye Selasi, Pramoedya Ananta Toer, Jamaica Kincaid, Pico Ayer, Madeleine Thien, Viet Thanh Nguyen...

My current favorite is a fantasy comic series by Marjorie Liu & Sana Takeda titled Monstress. I don't usually go for graphic books, but this is just .. wow.

I'm always in search of new novels, stories, essays.. printed or online. Got any recommendations?

Music: I'm a sucker for girls with guitars and lady badasses in general. Carla Morrison, Asa, Zee Avi, bands like Bomba Estéreo. Do you know any others ?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've run trail and road races from 10K to 50K in Yosemite, Patagonia, Guayaquil, and Lake Tahoe. So, I thought I was tough. When I found myself on a high altitude plain in Bolivia at approximately 4,900m (16,000 ft) above sea level, I thought I could handle a short run, no big deal, right? So I put on my running shorts, and ran -- or better, stumbled and gasped for about 5 minutes before admitting defeat. Didn't work out so well in hindsight -.-
