About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become verified, clearing the path for my europe trip this summer and a hopefully longer trek later this year

ABOUT ME

So...erm. I'm a student; english language literature. I also do a lot of weird art projects and am generally looking for thrills or weird experiences. I really enjoy rock climbing, midnight walks to the wharf nearby, reading (a lot of children's books, mythology, and any kind of horror/action adventure book that is well written especially with zombies.)watching films both cheesy and gorey (as long as it isn't too rom-com-y) and making things (my most recent project was a miniature museum and I'm now working on a muppet). I love travel and I flatter myself that I have kind of a knack for it, having orchestrated a lot of low cost-high fun trips for lazy friends. I'm an excellent cook (or so I hear) but I'm best at baked goods; I make stellar mojito cupcakes. I decided to do this because working downtown I run into a lot of travelers (especially ones who are having a bad time with their hotel reservations) and sometimes offer to put them up for the night. It's always fun and I've never once been robbed. :)

PHILOSOPHY

My dad was fond of saying "It's your attitude towards life that determines life's attitude towards you." I guess that stuck; life is what you make of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I've just signed up so I haven't done anything yet. I'd like to have the chance to show people around my beautiful little city and make new friends. After all, showing people the city is a new way of finding out cool stuff about it myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was walking home from work one night and I ran into these two poor british boys (they reminded me seriously of my little brother, I could barely resist ruffling their hair) who had arrived in Santa Cruz at 11 at night only to find their hostel closed and had come up with the idea to sleep on the beach (mid-summer, but it still gets freezing at night)only they couldn't find it. I offered to let them sleep on the floor of my tiny room and the next day my roomie took them out to breakfast. We enjoyed the buzz of having our friends think we were insane for quite some time.

Interests

I like getting dressed up in costumes, collect wigs and hats, own a fake mustache. I love zombie films (and books) and books in general. Jane Austen is a great favourite, so is the Scarlet Pimpernel. I like rock climbing, exploring, drawing, photography, and planning. I love europe and am very interested in art (I was going to major in art history). I'm very friendly and generally goofy, except when I'm not.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I had a homeless man hide in a garbage can. He had camouflage on his face and everything. Does seeing a real life Oscar the Grouch count as an awestruck moment? Yes, yes it does.
