ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in england. my parents migrated to nz when i was 16. WEnt back to uk in 1990, but havent been back since. We are planning on an 8 week trip in 2012 from mid august...would also like to spend some time in europe.
I drink occassionally, and not to get drunk. I dont smoke. We do have a little fox terrier dog. he is very friendly once he knows you (after a few mins). He used to be a great guard dog...but since meeting so many couch surfers, he is not so good as a guard dog ;)
I am a born again christian. Have four children, two of whom still live at home. I also have two wonderful grandsons.
We have recently (oct 2012) returned from an amazing three month trip to Europe and Morocco where we couch surfed in most places.

PHILOSOPHY

do to others as you would have them do to you. whatever you do for the least in society you do for Christ. Stand against oppression when you see it, and help people by giving them a hand up. we are equal.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I plan on participating in couch surfing, by offerring a place to stay ...plus there is always room in the back yard for a tent....
When we travelled in 2012 we ccouch surfed in uk, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands.. it was great...
For safety reasons i will only accept couch requests from surfers who have references or are verified (their name, address is not so important).
After my experience of trying to locate a couch in europe, i have decided that i am now less likely to accept a request from someone who has surfed lots but never hosted...it would depend on your references

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

have done more car surfing then anything...sleeping in cars when we have travelled.
In January 2012 we have had the privilege of hosting our first couch surfers.... it was a great experience, and in the few months that followed, we hosted over 40 people. It was a wonderful experience, people who are strangers when they arrive quickly become like close friends /family within days of staying...a very unique and wonderful community

Interests

i love social justice, and God.I like gardening, and celebrating festivities. we recently partied with the rugby world cup here in nz. We did not attend the games but had great fun anyway. I also love christmas.
travel to places less frequented by tourists.... chatting with couch surfers and sharing stories, rather than sitting in boring hotels

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Waitangi festivities at Waitangi on waitangi day 2012... had four amazing children.. toured NZ in a van with four children for two months, sleeping in the van as we went...was great fun [that was the stuff before we travelled in 2012]
Now- wow..we rode camels in the sahara..slept in nomad tents...hand fed monkeys in the forest...visited the colliseum, the acropolis, rode a gondola in venice...the recent trip we had was incredible we saw and did so much that i have to say the entire trip

Teach, Learn, Share

we could share a little kiwi hospitality, and suggest places to go... we could share local knowledge that travel guides dont share.
we as a family would like to learn about you and your culture, and your country
If you are staying on the weekends we could show you around. I work during the week, but we can make suggestions.
