About Me
In everyday life, I am a scientist working at uni. My field is... to put it broadly - molecular biology and genetics. Am I gonna find a cure for cancer? Maybe someday ;) I'll keep you posted!
Meanwhile, I have a good time in the lab - although it is very demanding and not really rewarding job. But I mostly enjoy it. If you wanna look closer at what I do just check out our lab Instagram profile! I launched it in 2016 with my lab mate because we thought - why not to share the cool stuff we do with the rest of the World?! Here's the link in case you're interested: https://www.instagram.com/the_lab_bench/
In 2012, I spent 3 months in Aarhus, Denmark as an intern, and then in 2013, 1 year in New York City, USA. So, I think I have quite an experience with living abroad :)
What I can say about myself for sure is... I love to talk and laugh! - a cliche? maybe! But it's true!
I enjoy watching Stephen Colbert very much (he perfectly imitates Donald Trump and his jokes are always on point).
And John Oliver (an incredibly smart guy! and again - his remarks are always on point!).
Cigarettes? Never even tried!
Alcohol? Two Aperol Spirtz cocktails and I am more than tipsy.
I really like to cook and discover new recipes and new ingredients, mix sweet and salty, meat and fruits etc.! Especially when I can cook for somebody. I don't even have to eat it if others like it. So... I can cook for my hosts, too :) Something polish maybe? Oh, also - when I say cooking, it includes baking as well!
I already started the food topic so I could not mention that what I love about traveling is tasting the local food! I think exploring the restaurants is my favorite activity during trips.
I also love to make movies from my travels (and not only) :) I use iMovie software and I think you can do amazing things with it!
Alright, enough for now. I am gonna fill this section up when I have more ideas about what to say :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Yes, I am a beginner here. Yes, I have only one reference. And yes - you can trust me! :)
A few years ago, I spent 1 year in New York City, where I was a foreign research student at The Rockefeller University. And I LOVED the States.
Because of work, I didn't have much time to travel around, and so it is time to catch up on it!
Technically, I am still a student (although almost 30-year-old :D ) so I want to have an adventure of my lifetime! Now or never (because the next step is.. you know... babies and diapers ;)).
So how to achieve it if not through couchsurfing? Meeting diverse people - especially - LOCALS! - who can show me around etc. - sounds like a trip, doesn't it?! This is why I am here.
Music, Movies, and Books
What I listen the most is:
Childish Gambino, Hozier, Jamie Woon, Delilah, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, LANY, Gregory Porter, Ed Sheeran, and DISNEY SONGS! :D
but, in fact, I can listen to everything my ears are okay with :)
Some time ago, I started watching Netflix's Marvel series I was not aware of (my Texan ex's influence). So: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist (sadly, this one is weak tho), The Punisher, The Defenders.... ahhhhh I love all of them! (well, except Iron Fist...).
I've always liked Superhero movies in fact (Logan <3).
Apart from superhero movies, some of my favorites are The Help, American History X, The Pianist, The Prestige (saw it around 10 times! everytime I discover something new), Fight Club, Forrest Gump, Contact, The Bodyguard, The Notebook - so totally random movies, no rule.
And yea - I watch Netflix (sometimes a lot, and then I do 2-months break).
I am happy Leonardo DiCaprio finally got an Oscar.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw Azure Window in Malta 1 year before it collapsed to the ocean.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think, I am a very open person. I always try everybody to feel comfortable and entertained (sometimes it drains me up... exhausts - but I still do it!).
I can sense the moment I am being pain in the ass and I stop.
Like I said earlier - I love to talk. I've met lots of different people in my life, different nationalities and worldviews , and so - I do not find it difficult to start a conversation with strangers / people of distinct beliefs. In fact, I love when two different worlds clash and we can DISCUSS things instead of talking about the weather and other safe topics. This is so interesting and addictive to understand how various people perceive reality.
