About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keep learning and pass it on.
I love books, nature hiking, vegan cooking, and theater, so I would like to do more of each.

ABOUT ME

I am a positive person, trying to see a ray of light in the darkest places. Also, a language freak.
במיוחד אוהבת את השפה העברית

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a lot of couchsurfing-type experience before I joined this website. It was usually friends of friends of friends... Then I was hosted by a few wonderful people I met via CS. At the moment, I am moving countries so cannot host yet, but I would like to get a big house once I am settled and cook yummy vegan /plant-based food for my guests.

Interests

Whether academic, ngo, or art-related - my interests always evolve around cultures, people meeting people across borders, people writing about cultures, people reading people, and speaking in their languages. I am fascinated by how languages and cultures are related, by how religion (faith, ritual, communities) shape our cultural thinking. And by how text-centered cultures read their histories in their light.

I also love mountains. I like hiking, contact with nature, the space to breath and views to admire. Whenever I can walk, I avoid buses or cars.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like some classical music (mostly instrumental), some jazz and blues, and some folk.
Film: Ladri di Biciclette, Meduzot,
Books: no, I won't even start, there are too many. I love fiction, books about languages and cultures, and reportage. My research interests include Hebrew literature, poetry, translation, and intertextuality.
I hope you can give me some ideas for things to read when I meet you.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lived in five different countries. This is always both a joy and a challenge - each time in a different way.
Recently, I initiated a theater project for women coming from different countries (migrants, refugees, and locals). It was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some simple vegan dishes (especially if you are new to this). I am always glad to get more plant-based ideas.
I would like to learn more about life in languages. If you are bilingual, or speak several languages, I would be interested to listen to how that affects your life (reading, thinking, dreaming and learning). And your identity.
I would like to learn more about how our brain functions, especially when we switch languages.

If you know something about theater, I am always ready to listen! ;-)
And I'd like to sing together, if you teach me a new song. I am not a professional musician, but I love singing with others.
I would also welcome advice on training with weights.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am happy to help with anything around the house. I am vegan, so won't cook those pork trotters for you, but curry lentils, why not? ;-)
I can correct your English homework/paper.
I'd be happy to share my love for books and/or teach you knitting/crocheting.
I am a good listener. ;-)
