About Me

Foreign languages & cultures enthusiast, coffee and music addict, wine and cheese lover, not a morning person. Distrustful about technology.

Always happy to meet people from diffrent walks of life and to learn something from them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Storytelling, storymaking, trying new things, going with the flow.

I couldn't even count how many times I was exposed to some unusual sitations (at least comparing to my so-called normal life) while travelling or meeting foreigners. I think that's what it's all about. Putting myself in in not-so-everyday-life-situations helps me get to know myself better.

I also have an interest in foreign languages, so it's always a pleasure to me to make a use of them. Besides, I like listening to people speaking their own one (even if I don't understand it), cause at some point, I find that it express their personality and their temperament the most accurately.

Also, thanks to CS I already met some wonderful people, which is why I still use it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm quite open-minded when it comes to music. Among the genres which I listen to (or I used to) I can mention rock, progressive rock, rave, math rock, classical music, electro, dream electro, techno, trip hop, disco, salsa, bossa nova, cumbia... This list is not exhaustive, actually. It all depends on my current mood. I find music to be some kind of background to life and associate it with particular memories.

When it comes to movies, maybe I will just mention about a couple which have really "moved me": Inception, The curious case of Benjamin Button, Her, 12 Angry Men, Fight Club, The devil's Advocate, Stoker, Django, Budapest Grand Hotel, Untouchables, Cidade de Deus, Imagine.

Books: Camus, Maupassant, Orwell, Kundera, Steinbeck, Dostoyevski, Myśliwski, Mrożek, Vonnegut, Murakami, and many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen Manhattan from a ferry after midnight, I've climbed Gellert Haggy in Budapest at 3 a.m. with a bottle of red wine in hand, I've sung an abstract from Mozart's requiem with a choir, I've seen the Atlantic Ocean from the top of the longest dune in Europe, I've eaten the best mussels in the world.

///////

I went on one-year Erasmus exchange in Lyon which, so far, was a life-changing experience to me. Not only because of studying at a different university, but mostly because of the change of country, my whole social environment and even my rhythm of life. Also, I had some opportunities to travel alone, which changed my perspective on life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some Polish, bring a little gift (under no circumstances will I come empty-handed!) or cook something for you. Last but not least, I always try to have some decent conversation (well, of course when I'm not tired to death).

When in Cracow or in Lyon, I can show you some places that you wouldn't necessarily find in a guidebook and give some tips concerning the city.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you feel like meeting me after reading all of this above wouldn't be a waste of time, don't hesitate. When I'm looking for hosts, I'm not interested only in free accommodation, but in meeting interesting people with whom I could have some good time and who could tell me something from the point of view of a local (have I mentioned that I hate the word "tourist"?).
