Because it´s much better than staying in hostels. You do not get to know just any other tourists, but really people who live in the country, which is much nicer :) (and yeah, that it´s cheaper is a reason as well ;))

Travelling with a tiny-little backpack through Asia on my own, hardly ever knowing where I would go the next day. - After/during that trip I realised that making too many plans beforehand is a waste of time and energy. You just have to take what comes and deal with it :)
