About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just enjoy life (not sure if I can call it a 'mission')

ABOUT ME

Originally I come from Poland, from the oldest of the Tripolis cities- Gdansk. Since past 15 years I have been living in Edinburgh (Scotland). At first I pursued my degree in Psychology here. And now I have been working here, with a few breaks to vagabond here and there.

I am into healthy living etc. I am rather a chatty type, but I also appreciate a quiet moment. I am fun-loving, cheerful, and social person, with (I hope) good sense of humour, full of initiative and ideas, but you must meet me to test these waters ;)

Currently I am a Masters student as well as I work part-time for The University of Edinburgh, which has been a real privilege and joy.

I have some occasional opportunities to travel with my work, that I usually extend and use my additional holidays time to explore more about the country.

PHILOSOPHY

Have fun, and love and respect yourself, others and the planet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have heard that some people say that couch surfing is a 'dating website'.... I have never done couch surfing with this motivation, but I met people who became my heart-friends. This is what I truly value with this community.

Hosting and being hosted. I enjoy the idea of cultural exchange that offers participating in Couch Surfing. I like hosting people in my place. I usually try to spend time with my couch surfers and exchange our cultural heritages. And of course I enjoy being hosted...its far more better than staying in a hostel when things are far more impersonalised. I learned so mush about culture of people in the countries I stayed, much faster than if I had stayed in a hotel/ hostel, and have heard many interesting personal stories which I always value a lot. I also tried national cuisine....this is why I chose to participate in CS...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It has always been great. I was lucky to meet a lot of people who then became my friends...as to see what others think of me best to see my references about my experience (now CS has removed negative ones, but I have never had any anyways).

Interests

Inter-cultural exchange: talking, talking, talking ..... then cycling, going out, walks, hill walking, reading books, watching movies, learning new languages. I quite enjoy cooking as well, but not all the time. I also a healthy type- I would have a drink mainly when travelling- just to try new things. I do not smoke- so I am not a typical, party animal person, but I like going out for cultural events, learn something new etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

International independent cinema. I enjoy all movies as long as they are smart and make one think a bit afterwards. Or not...such as rom coms :) The movies I definitely dislike are horrors (apart from old horrors from beginning of the century), mindless killing movies and cheesy Hollywood productions.

I don't read much of books these days but if I do that would be usually reportage or a criminal story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I was selected for a scholarship for a summer school. So I spend one month in Shanghai attending Chinese language classes and visiting surrounding places. Its was a truly amazing experience!

From the other more exciting ones: parachute jump....seeing northern lights in Norway....attending world-class opera and symphonic concert in Vienna....a work placement in Slovakia...visiting India and Nepal....

Teach, Learn, Share

Lets have a coffee/tea with honey...no milk, but lemon please!
