About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience everything life throws at us and travel as much as possible while meeting interesting new people.

ABOUT US

We've been together since 2001 and have two sons. Our oldest was born in Aug 2012 and his brother came 15 months later in Nov 2013. Amanda cares for them during the day while Gina is at work. Animals are also a huge part of our lives. We have 4 dogs, 1 water turtle, and frequently have boarding animals here. We are also known to foster homeless pets when they cross our path.

Gina started volunteering at a vet clinic when she was 12 years old and has worked with animals ever since. Her goal is to become a veterinarian, but for now she is content being a certified veterinary technician and the Hospital Manager of two general practice animal hospitals.

Amanda loves being able to run the pet sitting business from home, especially now that she's "mama" to two little boys. She can't imagine working on someone else's schedule ever again.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW WE PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We had the opportunity to host 3 awesome guys and have also been offered a place to surf but our plans fell through. So far, so good! We are looking forward to many more great experiences through CouchSurfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have limited experience with couchsurfing, but we've enjoyed our guests. They have become friends and we stay in contact often.

Interests

We enjoy hiking, camping, stargazing, photography, going to the movies (or staying home to watch movies), and discovering new foods.

Gina loves reading and can often be found curled up on the couch immersed in her latest book. Amanda has read more in the past 2 years than she ever has before and actually wishes she had more time to read.

Amanda's favorite sport is basketball, while Gina prefers sand volleyball. We both play on a recreational softball team.

We are also involved in raising money and awareness for cancer research and have participated in events such as Race for the Cure, 3-Day for the Cure, Relay for Life, and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

We recently helped raise funds for mission work in Guatemala. The goal is to help those in the village of San Pedro la Laguna create a sustainable lifestyle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going to the Hawaiian island of Kauai is the most amazing thing we've done. It was breathtaking to see the Na Pali Coast. The fish on the coral reef were beautiful. We saw two Monk seals as well.

They have the most wonderful fruit we've ever eaten. The weather is perfect. The people are friendly. It was a terrific experience.
