Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I'm very open to all kinds of music, but you can usually find around my rotation:
Arists from the 1960s-1970s Laurel Canyon Scene (Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Neil Young, The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas, Love and many more)
Argentine artists from the 1970s (Charly García, Alberto Spinetta, Aquelarre)
Other classic rock artists (The Velvet Underground, Nico, Steely Dan, Lou Reed, ELO, David Bowie, Talking Heads, Brian Eno and many many more)
Classic Funk (Funkadelic, Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament)
Classic Soul (Curtis Mayfield, Nina Simone, Isaac Hayes, Gil-Scott Heron, Terry Callier, Shuggie Otis, Cymande, Minnie Rapperton, Laura Nyro, Sade, D'Angelo)
Jazz (Alice Coltrane! Miles Davis!)
Contemporary artists I love: Lana del Rey, Frank Ocean, Lorde, Bjork, Weyes Blood, Sufjan Stevens, Beach House, Kendrick Lamar, St. Vincent, MGMT, Big Thief, Adrienne Lenker, Phil Elvrum, Tyler , the Creator, Billie Eilish, Florence + the machine, Little Simz, Caroline Polachek, Juana Molina, Usted Señalemelo, Arca)
Movies:
I studied one year of film direction and I have many films very close to my heart, but the ones that made the most impact on me are:
- My Dinner With Andre: I don't think any other film impacted me as much as this film, would recommend to anyone for a transcending experience that arises from a film that just shows a dinner between two friends with different worldviews.
- The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: I think the LOTR trilogy is mesmerizing, moving and powerful. It just shows the beauty of cinema and what cinema is capable of: from its amazing score and scenery up to Tolkien's classic heroic arc.
- Melancholia: I think this is the first movie that really provoked something inside me, as both a film enthusiast and a psychologyst, the study of depression that the film shows captivated me.
- Once Upon A Time in Hollywood: I love Tarantino and this film encapsulates his best aspects for me, while I also love the 1960s California setting.
Many other films I've enjoyed: Zama, The Northman, The Lighthouse, Triangle of Sadness, Tár, Eyes Wide Shut, and many many more.
