The first time I was made aware that this platform existed was after finishing an English summer camp tutor job in the North of Italy three years ago. I got lucky and got a place within 30 minutes and since then I leant how different people approach hosting guests and learnt valuable lessons such as maintaining contact with hosts and treating the house as the owner would.

Right from my first stay I began to couch-surfed and hostel through Italy and France for 2 months and thanks to all my amazing hosts I had experiences that weren't reproducible without being plugged in like a local, from there I now always make such an effort to be flexible and deal with inconveniences like challenges to grow my character. In that time I helped fix a kitchen, cook meals for my hosts and took care of the cleaning for example.

I haven't partaken in hosting because my situation until now hasn't facilitated it, so I try to make up for that in going the extra mile in being social, positive and adaptable. Lets share some stories! I like cooking and I'm very clean, top level DIYer too so I can fix stuff around the house ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travelling is much more enjoyable with a companion to share experiences together, and what better companion to have than a local waiting for you when you arrive into an exciting new environment and culture, discovering life from a residential perspective as opposed to bleak hotel rooms!

I travel to attend work conferences that can last several days, whilst attending these events I usually stay at hotels but this gets quite depressing if done often. Frequently I stay at the location of the event afterwards to discover the city or practise my language skills.
