About Me

Hey, Wren here! Thanks for reading my profile!

Nonbinary and quite politically left!

I'm not exactly too outgoing, but I'm certainly not an introvert, either. Although some alone time is lovely, quality time spent with others is as well! Very few things beat a good conversation!

I like to think that every step taken is a step forward - stepping backwards is just going forward in a different direction. At least, that's what I like to tell myself when things don't go so well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A dear friend of mine - who's also a member of this community - introduced the concept to me. Initially skeptical, I've really warmed up to the idea after watching his interactions with his previous hosts. How amazing it is, I thought, to be able to meet and connect with like-minded people through travelling and to stay with them?

Although situations make it hard for me to host others, I'd gladly bring travellers around Singapore. I may not know my country like the back of my hand, but I think I know enough to show someone a good time, and I'd love to learn more about my home, too.

Most of all, though, I want to meet people from all walks of life. I want to see what they see. I want to know what they know. I want to learn about them. I want to know why they do what they do, why they say what they say, and why they do what they do. Everyone has a story. I want to hear them, and play a part in them, too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I haven't done much anything extraordinary in my life, so I guess the most 'amazing' thing I've done would have to be that one time I skydived in New Zealand. Not my absolute favourite or most memorable take-away from that trip, but it certainly was amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a fair bit about Chinese tea, and I'd be more than willing to share. If you use fountain pens, we would have so much to talk about! If you're not, well, I might just be able to convince you to pick one up. If you're looking for good eats, look no further: I know of a couple of absolutely stunning places!

I want to learn about other places straight from the people who live in them. Often, I find, outsiders and locals have very, very different - sometimes even contradictory - images of places in their heads. In my limited experiences, I've found it very entertaining to hear about a foreigner's view of Singapore and to have my misconceptions corrected!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope to share with hosts my friendship and some quality time. I may not have much in the way of money or material goods, but I think I'm capable of making your day more pleasant!

I like to think of myself as a responsible person, so hosts can rest assured that I'll definitely not leave a place worse off; I'll do everything in my power to make things better instead.
