About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Drinking ale and playing some Viking metal on my very own longboat which I shall sail from Scotland to the Faroe Islands!
ABOUT ME
how do I live? by swinging
from cliche to cliche the way an elephant
steps from lily pad to lily pad
in the sky
the letter M in your meaning
splits the face I know
middle-of-the-road politics
posing as objectivity
until each quick and simple thing
folds beneath the unassailable
weight of stars
from which so much sense has been derived
--Kit Robinson
I'm just a nomadic metalhead and unlike my peers I'm not highly specialized in some readily identifiable discipline, but man, I'm interested in a lot of stuff, so I'm not likely to bore you. Try me.
PHILOSOPHY
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. --J.R.R. Tolkien
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men. --Willy Wonka
The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page. --St. Augustine
Do not believe a thing simply because it has been said. Do not put your faith in traditions or believe a thing because the general opinion believes it to be true. Do not believe that which you are in the habit of believing or that which comes to your imagination, thinking that it must be the revelation of a superior Being.
That which you have tried yourself, which you have experienced, which you have recognized as true, and which will be beneficial to you and to others, believe that and shape your conduct to it. --The Buddha
Don't say, "It's been a good day" till sundown.
Don't say, "She's a good wife," till she's buried.
Don't say, "The ice is safe," till you've crossed it.
Don't say, "The beer is good," till you've drunk the last of it.
--The Havamal

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen majestic Lochnagar after a long ascent through boulder fields in the middle of the nowhere in the Cairngorms; the near-vertical munro carved out by glaciers and brooding over the dark, still waters of the loch.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd very much like to meet people with whom I can practice foreign languages (especially Russian, French and Spanish) as I'm not any good at any of them. I can share my world-renowned cooking and baking skills with anyone, however!
