About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To ressurect Tippin's, the pie emporium.
ABOUT ME
I'm eclectic and talkative... the talkative part is key: philosophy, hobbies, politics - but I must be frank, I have difficulty keeping up with sportstalk (I particularly love philosophy: I'm a big fan of John Stuart Mill).
What else... I'm currently a student at UTD living on the scholarship they gave me (a stipend). So, that means that you can either see me as a guy who's getting paid to go to school or an unemployed bum. I think I'm slightly more okay with being called a bum. Any "guy who's getting paid to go to school" is probably an arrogant ass, and I don't really want to have to get a beret.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a utilitarian hedonist with a belief in Omega Point Theory (most religious folk would call me an Atheist, though). It's a simple philosophy: in all things, try to bring about the greatest happiness in the greatest number of people.
Oh, yeah, and I'm also a pacifist - but I enjoy practical martial arts. I hear this is uncommon?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like to travel, try to couchsurf when possible, and keep my couch open for whoever wants it. I could do more, but I'm just a rank-and-file couchsurfer for now.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Haven't couchsurfed yet, but I'd love to. I've hosted a couple times. Once for a man from New Zealand, and once for a couple here from France. It was a very enjoyable experience both times. The guy from New Zealand was actually travelling the world writing a book about what he saw. Pretty cool.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books -Anything I can get my hands on, America: The Book, The *entire* Ender's Game Series, God's Debris, The Sandman, anything by Neil Gaiman or Chuck Palahniuk, Anything by John Stuart Mill, The Wheel of Time series, His Dark Materials, I could keep going forever. I also like classical philosophy, but I prefer Aristotelian ideas to most others - it feels more rooted in science.
Movies - Anything that makes me think, especially if it has a twist, FIGHT CLUB, The Prestige, Primer, The Dark Knight, American History X, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Zoolander, Thank You For Smoking, Lord of War, drawing a blank now.
Music- STILL Pretty much anything (see a trend?), Steven Lynch, Barenaked Ladies, the Hush Sound, Scroobius Pip Vs. Dan Le Sac, Regina Spektor, Third Eye Blind, Train, Cake, Incubus, Jack Johnson
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've survived a motorcycle accident with a mack truck at 80 miles an hour. Still trying to figure that one out.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to fight *very* well, given the time. Over the short term, I could give you tricks you can use in scuffles. I wouldn't feel comfortable teaching an overly aggressive person how to fight, though. I don't like the idea of being the originating point for violence - but self-defense? That's something everyone should know.
I'm fairly well-versed in psychology, economics, philosophy, and finance.
I've also got a strong knack for computers. I can fix yours, get it running smoothly, or show you how to pirate (if you want).
