I currently live in San Diego and have been adjusting to life outside of grad school. I like to connect with new people when I'm traveling for good conversation and secrets about local treasures. I love hiking, snorkeling, swimming, and most things out doors

ABOUT ME

I'm pretty laid back and generally enjoy good conversation, good food and good wine. I enjoy gardening and cooking and sometimes enjoy a night out on town. I grew up in a small town with lots of hippies, artists and folk music nestled in the redwoods and by the ocean. I've found the longer that I am away from home the more I identify myself by where I grew up. I am a fan of pets and have missed my cat and my previous room mate's dog terribly so if you do have pets this would be a bonus for me. I have lived in California most of my life, but did spend some time in Australia. I've enjoyed meeting new people and just experiencing new environments. Looking forward to meeting some of you!

PHILOSOPHY

Currently I am in flux. I get a kick out of just learning new things and I've found I enjoy listening to people talk about what makes them most passionate. I think it is important to fill life with the things that make us most passionate and excited to fully enrich our lives and sharing these interests helps to enrich others lives as well.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have not been in the couchsurfing community for about 5 years, but found many friends while traveling through this site. If I had room mates that were abiding, I would probably host, but I am always open to go on hikes or meet up for coffee or the like. San Diego has a lot to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While living in San Francisco, a few of my friends were involved for years. I have met lots of people coming through their houses. While in Australia, I connected with people to road trip and stayed at a number of farms and houses. All the people have been very welcoming and lovely. Looking forward to continuing this experience.

Cooking, gardening, philosophy, drinking good wine and beer, dancing (just for fun), music (I usually gravitate towards jazz and funk), just chatting over a cup of tea....

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I listen to all kinds of music, but have a hard time with the really sappy romantic stuff with no musical quality. In saying that, though, depending on nostalgia, there are a good number of sappy love songs that I do enjoy singing to dramatically.
In terms of movies I also have pretty eclectic taste. Generally I don't enjoy thrillers and horror movies, but I love comedy, action and musicals....

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

ooo...this is a hard one. When I was a teenager I went to a camp called rock and roll camp for girls. Although the focus of the camp was to teach girls how to play rock and roll music, the purpose was more about empowering young girls through mastery and belonging. The camp was a thesis project at first, but over the years has turned into a whole empire of classes and groups....I attended the first humble year. We took courses on self defense, self image and being comfortable with weight and size and girls who were musical performers, mostly indie girl rock bands, did presentations and taught song writing workshops. By the end of the week we had formed bands and performed at a local venue where well known bands regularly played. We were also invited to watch Sleater-Kinney perform and I got to go-go dance on stage. A few other campers and I were featured in a few magazines and national radio shows. One band even made it on to Sally Jesse Rafael. It was awesome.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I can crochet, I can cook some specialties and enjoy showing other people, have knowledge on some conflict resolution studies and organizations and enjoy sharing these ideas and other stuff I'm sure although I can't think of any at the moment.....
