I am an ex-traveller who misses the company of people who are on the road.

I am now settled in my hometown of Istanbul and my favorite pastime is hosting friends & acquaintances in my apartment. So if you come and couchsurf at my spare room, expect a busy house.

Also, I like getting away to different cities in long weekends and such. But I really don't enjoy the city when I stay in hotels. Because hotels have a way of isolating you. And, when I 'm in hotels, I usually end up consuming all my vacation time by unsuccessfully researching to find non-touristy places and events that locals visit.

I think this site would be an efficient place to connect with like-minded people: People who are present enough to appreciate and honor a good host and people who truly enjoy hosting people in their homes.

Also, my 2 years of travels (14 years ago) have been so enriching and enlightening for me that I feel a sense of duty to pay my respects to the gods of travel. What better way to do that than offering a little hospitality to current wanderers of the world?
