About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To take each day as it comes (with both the anticipated and unanticipated elements) and enjoy it to the fullest

ABOUT ME

I really enjoy taking in my surroundings and experiencing life wherever I happen to be at the moment, whether I'm at home, at work or abroad. I enjoy going, doing, seeing--and at the same time I can greatly enjoy just kicking back and hanging out. It is true that I tend to work a lot, and that's mostly because I love what I do...oh,and it doesn't pay that much so I get to do a lot of it to make ends meet :) Also, I like to work, work, work, so that I can leave town for a few weeks at a time semi-regularly...and when I'm away, I'm truly away. I don't take my work with me! It's a bartering system I've worked out in most places I've lived. I absolutely savor good weather and the beauty of the great outdoors, therefore that's where I tend to exist as much as possible (along with my dog if possible!) . I'm not much of a shopper in general, and I can't afford to keep up with technology, therefore I don't even try to be 'in the know', so therefore I can say honestly that I live a pretty simplistic life.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in loving my neighbors (and I do mean 'neighbor' in the broadest and most non-exclusive of terms). I believe in striving to live at peace with everyone. I believe in being thankful for all things, even the difficult things. I believe in being flexible when it comes to dealing with the ins and outs of life, as some of the best life experiences have come from things completely unanticipated. Some of the hardest, yet most profitable lessons have also come from the unanticipated. Instead of panicking when things don't go as planned, I believe it's a time to go with the flow and see where it leads you. I belive in simplicity--at this time in my life I strive to keep the total sum of my possessions to what can fit in (or on top of) my car, my dog included. I believe it's important not to force or impose my beliefs on others. And ultimately I believe that living out my beliefs is paramount to talking about them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been a huge supporter of the non-official couch surfing movement years! I have both surfed and sponsored designated surfing areas on a regular basis, so there's a special place in my heart for it. Unfortunately, it wasn't until recently that I heard of CouchSurfing.com, or else I would have been a willing participant long ago. I look forward to a bright future as an active member.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Let's just say I'm couch surfing as we speak! I am currently traveling around the UK with one of my friends for a while. Historically speaking, a majority of my travel experiences (both domestic and international)have been spent on couches and floors of hospitable local hosts with whom I've had years of continued friendships with, beit a friend, a friend's friend, or total stranger. I love local culture and would not generally consider myself the 'touristy' type. On a local level I've surfed many a couches during periods between moves. In return to the generosity I've experienced I really enjoy being able to return the various favors by openly offering my abode to others in need, well, that is when I have one to offer!

Interests

Hiking, Camping, Climbing/Bouldering, Snowboarding (although I'll admit the last two are fairly new...I've just become more serious within the last year), Cooking, Traveling, Disc Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, Being outdoors, Listening to music, Hosting guests, Hanging out with my dog, Good times!
