About Me

I retired August of 2018. My wife, Lori, and I currently now live in Naples Idaho for 6 months each year and travel for the rest of the time. We hope to host people at our 20 acre homestead in Naples, ID when we are not traveling the world. We are looking to meet new people and learn the cultures around us!

I have a travel blog I have just started www.deliberatetraveler.com and I am on Twitter and Facebook

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My wife and I want to travel the world for the next five to seven years. We are interested in meeting new people and learning new cultures in the hopes of developing life long friendships that will bridge borders.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a very eclectic pallet when it comes to music, but my go-to's would have to be Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, BB King, Pink Martini, Buena Vista Social Club and all things country! I am a fan of good action movies and old spaghetti westerns. I love any book on travel and all of the Mitch Rapp series of books as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I back-packed around the world for over a year with my mother in 1988. Yeah that was old-school! No internet, no cell phones, no Google. Just our trusty old copy of the Lonely Planet guides and paper maps to make our way around the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always willing to help where I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have forty plus years of life experience traveling the world doing international business. I have studied Permaculture and have an off grid solar homestead. I also have a sense of humor that boarders on wacky.
I know a little bit about a lot of things, which makes me no expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once.

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Canada, China, Croatia, Egypt, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Greece, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, Nepal, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Scotland, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
