About Me

Hello! Dia Duit! I'm a twin from Ireland and like you, i love to learn, travel and laugh. I will be attending Trinity College Dublin this year where i will study Engineering , I am very passionate about everything i do. I love Science, Engineering and especially Maths. I travelled last Christmas to the Italian Alps where i spent one week with ESA and ESO with the world's 50 strongest applicants in Astronomy and Maths to study Astrophysics and astronomy.
I have competed internationally for my country in a sport called "Tetrathlon": running swimming shooting and horse-riding.I am very health conscious and i exercise and eat plenty of FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT! I am an adventurer at heart and i am always ambitious and daring to wander onto unknown paths ad learn new things. I love to laugh most of all and i am always looking how i can become a better person, friend and traveler! I look forward to being in contact with you soon. I have 4 siblings, we all play sport,my twin and we can be pretty competitive, but who doesn't love a bit of competition?
Feel free to add me on Facebook or Instagram where you can follow a true account of my life! My username is AideenFay :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When i think of couch surfing i am reminded of Tim Cahill's wise words : “A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.”
I'm couch surfing as it is a different way to experience culture. Recommended by a friend, i've decided to try it. I love tot ravel and aa we all know, that can get quite expensive. "Couch surfing" offers an alternative, to immerse myself in the world of the country, form new relationships and knowledge. I'm very excited to be a part of this organisation. The gladdest moment in human life, i think, is a departure into unknown lands.
“We travel, some of us forever, to seek other places, other lives, other souls.” – Anais Nin

Interests

Check out my photos for a first-hand insight into my interests! I am an avid adventurer who loves to experience new things and take photos on my journey. I have competed internationally for my country in a sport called "Tetrathlon": running swimming shooting and horse-riding traveling to the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and Wales multiple times. My favourite part of sport is belonging to a team and working together to obtain the best result! My twin is a hopeful Olympic triathlete so i like to travel with herald support her as much as i can. I am an "adrenaline Junkie" who loves to ski, cliff-jump and go on crazy rollar-coasters at the biggest Theme Parks . I have bungee-jumping on my bucket list!!
I also love to sail, anything involving water sports and physical exertion!
Rising horses on the beach is one of my favourite activities, maybe if you come to Ireland we can do this !!!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a great book, it allows you to enter into unknown lands, destination, relationships, romance, danger....
As a hopeful leader, Google's book really helped me to understand the workplace and how i can create a stimulating, enjoyable and productive environment for my team!
I love history books, like Fiasco, Soldier's Education and D-Day. A book tat stayed with me throughout the years has been Sarah's Key. I would advise you to pick up this journalistic book intertwining one of French history's most horrifying episodes: thousands of Jews in occupied Paris in 1942 were rounded up at the Nazis' bidding, herded into a sports centre (the Winter velodrome, or Vel d'Hiv) before being sent on to the death camps, showing the political machinations of high-ranking French and German officials who had decided on this horrendous action.

I also love leadership books that allow us to learn from the best, and try to implement what they have to say about physical fitness, emotions and relationships and spiritual meaning- Tony Robbins: Awaken the Giant Within, Sebastion Cole Olympian.

I enjoy concerts and have been to see Beyonce, Katy Perry Pink, Imagine Dragons, Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton and the Longitude Festival in Ireland . I don't have a favourite genre of music, just certain songs i like.

As exams approach i find myself listening to a lot of Classical music!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As an international tetrathete, i have travelled on ferry with horses which were eventful times. I want to continue to compete for my country, in University i will start rowing and i hope tor present Ireland .

Many amazing/crazy things have happened when horse-riding, as you can imagine. .
Once i broke my fingers on the back of a quad in the snow when two of us crashed! But i was lying on a board attached to the back of the quad when this happened and to was so painful!

As a hopeful doctor i volunteer with he RedCross and have worked with charities and organisations for gender equality-HEforSHE., homeless aid The Samaritans and The Irish Wheelchair Society working with the elderly with Dementia.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My family and i have hosted exchange students over the past 4 years for periods ranging from 1 week-4 weeks ! That said, i can offer a welcoming , Irish Home int he countryside, not only a place to stay but a place you can learn ,laugh and experience Irish Life in a place where there are connections to Dublin, Galway, Cork, Belfast and other seaside towns such as Clogherhead and Termonfeckin.
