ABOUT ME
I am a full time dabbler in design, engineering, building, gardening & homesteading. i'm happiest with dirt under my fingernails. i consider myself an easy and adaptable person. typically a bit quiet at first, i enjoy observing new places, peoples, and customs... and once warmed up, i'm filled with good conversation, odd stories and plenty of smiles.
I prefer to be a traveler rather than a tourist. I don't get many kicks from posing in front of a building or statue just to get a picture taken in front of said statue. rather, give me the the odd scenes, the great outdoors, a dark and seedy joint for a drink and food, a light pack and a long trail.
Genuine people and interactions are so important for well being of us all.
PHILOSOPHY
here's a good one that I just heard - thanks Goethe:
"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back-- Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Action has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now."
and speaking of magic,
"Disbelief in magic can force a poor soul into believing in government and business." - Tom Robbins
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host, I meet, and I travel. Laughs, talks, music and working and building cool stuff - the best way to meet people!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed throughout France and Spain. Side effects have included a new love of hitch-hiking, juggling, sleeping in random places, long drawn out foodings, and being awed by how wonderful and full of love people can really be.
i've also hosted a few wanderers passing through my neck of the woods too.
Interests
this could get lengthy, but since brevity is the soul of wit... i am interested in:
tacos;
stuff;
sharing time with friends, enjoying time alone;
growing, making & eating delicious food;
creating natural buildings and things;
music;
arranging words and sounds;
outdoors, skiing, hiking, mountains;
dogs (cats too, but they really gotta be cool);
movement of all kinds;
balance;
warm fires on cold days, and cold drinks on hot days.

as long as there is creativity and talent.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
in an effort to restore a lost part of their history nearly erased by western civilization, i helped unearth the "trophies" of a tribe of headhunters in the border mountains of india and myanmar. the trophies? - human skulls. the aang (king) of the village was grateful indeed.
and on another note, imagine a serene view of the Mediterranean Sea, from atop the rock of Gibraltar, having just had a close brush with life and death, sharing the space with a person full of love and happiness. It is nearing sunset, and the world is alive and sureal. Then imagine entering this scene 10 fully naked Slovenian beefcake dudes, dancing in full force, feigning cornholeing, taking photos, and singing in the only english that they know, "party, party, disco, cocaine!!". You really never know what life will bring...
Teach, Learn, Share
i will never stop learning.
as for teaching, i enjoy sharing the little bit or lotta bit that i know about living off-grid, growing plants, natural building, zomes (the sexy dome),regenerative architecture and engineering, and the wonderful ways of aikido
