About Me

My partner and I have recently moved to the Sunshine Coast - you know, lifestyle choices! Pierre is studying Outdoor Education and I am commuting to Brisbane to complete a Phd. I also teach at the university. We both love bike riding, hanging out at the beach, travelling (of course), reading, markets, etc etc etc. We love meeting new people and are finally in our own place after years of Couchsurfing hiatus, and are really excited to have some couch surfers again. I have a historically bad response rate, but am excited to get going once more!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After years of planning travel around my contacts and sleeping on couches of friends and friends of friends, I 'officially' couch surfed for the first time in Russia in 2010. I became a convert - money can't buy the friends you make and the real experiences you have.

Some of my earliest couchsurfing experiences have led to life long friendships!

Interests

Travelling, not having plans, coffee, Scotland, beer, new things, being a bleeding heart, debating things (even when I'm not entirely sure what my point is), dirty pubs, old buildings, new places, new ideas, writing haikus, snowglobes, all types of tacky souveniers, live music, drawing stickman pictures to illustrate my point, educational research, learning things, just chatting.... The list goes on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Horseriding around a massive frozen Mongolian lake; where drinking water was found by cracking holes in the ice, and night times were spent sleeping in gers and walking on the cracking ice.

Followed up by almost a week in the train across Russia, with new Russian friends who taught me all types of things, like the Russian train card game (and how to count to 20)... Language barriers don't have to be a barrier!

And ALL of Myanmar: I can't even begin to describe how this country is so amazing.
