About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is to make the most perfect naan on earth. And to finish my thesis project and dissertation...oh yeah.
ABOUT ME
I am quirky, creative and easy-going...also fairly nerdy, but a sociable nerd! I'm doing my PhD in Linguistics (looking at the role child learners play in language change)here in Toronto.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe in magic.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Only vicariously experienced at the moment!
Except that I participate at TorontoBabel, which is a weekly language and culture exchange which my friend Beth runs at a pub here in Toronto. This event draws many couchsurfers weekly!
Interests
Riding my bicycle around the city, thick real hot chocolate, reading, tending to my houseplants, having a pint at the pub, indoor rock climbing (exercise and problem solving!), travelling, my morning cup of tea, board games (Carcasonne, Catan, Trivial Pursuit...)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love pop fantasy and sci-fi: Hitchhiker's Guide, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings...
Also Jonathan Safran Foer, Christopher Moore, non-fiction about science and math topics.
Music at random: M.Ward, The Shins, Blur, Gotye, Johnny Cash, Beatles, Emiliana Torrini, Modest Mouse, etc...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I jumped a small fence in the south of France to touch the sea salt vats cordoned off from the ocean. Pink, sparkling, salty glitter as far as the eye could see!! It was like fresh snow but in the hot sun and on the beach! Such an amazing sight, and also a wonderful substance to plunge one's hands into!
The Dingle Peninsula in Ireland - beautiful and craggy, misty and the smell of mossy-ness. It could make you believe in fairies, I promise.
Also, I bottle-fed a tiny baby goat yesterday in rural Ontario, that was wonderful.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching and sharing skills! I am a good knitter and have taught many to knit. Also I can offer mini-workshops in: French, Irish, English, Linguistics, Printmaking, Jewelry Making, and Bread-baking.
